Mount Pinatubo with Pinoy Travel Bloggers
Mount Pinatubo Adventure

2012 has been a busy year for me.. It was not just about a year of baking Monster Cookies, working on a graveyard shift, food hunting and traveling on the side. Year 2012 was also the year when I decided to go back to freelancing and left my BPO job that had me busy for 5 long but memorable years.

January challenged me with a trek to Pinatubo with fellow travel bloggers. It was not an easy trek for me since the last time I did one was probably 10 years ago when I was 20 kilos lighter (LOL). January was also the month when the Philippine Department of Tourism invited me for the media launch of its new tagline “It’s More Fun in the Philippines“.

Cebu and Best Roasted Pig in the World
Cebu and Best Roasted Pig in the World

February brought me to Cebu to experience the newly renovated Summit Circle Cebu Hotel. In this trip, I started gaining weight since all we did was eating at Zubuchon and taste different dishes that has nothing but Lechon.

El Nido Resorts in Palawan
El Nido Resorts in Palawan

March sent me to the caves of Apulit Island and the beautiful resorts in Miniloc and Lagen Island. Also last March, I became couple of pounds heavier after enjoying Sooo Pinoy Food Tour in Ilo-ilo and Boracay together with fellow bloggers and food writers from print media.

Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas in Cebu

In April, I visited Cebu again for another food trip with Unilever’s Sooo Pinoy Team. After a week of gluttony, I spent the holy week in Sagada – a place that will take you forever to reach but truly one of the best destinations to relax and unwind.

Jomalig Island - Paradise Found
Jomalig Island – Paradise Found

May introduced me to a hidden paradise called Jomalig – an island in Quezon Province that takes forever to reach but the place is extremely beautiful. Also last May, I was able to visit and explore the old “Manila Metropolitan Theater” building – one of the most beautiful man-made structure in Manila that badly needs rehabilitation. Last May, I also headed to Davao for the annual Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DFAT) – a food tour for bloggers showcasing some of Davao’s best restaurants and travel destinations. After the food tour, I had a chance to visit Lake Agco in Kidapawan City and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Masjid – Cotabato City’s Golden Mosque.

PHILTOA Central Visayas Familiarization Tour
PHILTOA Central Visayas Familiarization Tour

June brought a 7-day Central Visayas familiarization trip to explore some of the countries best kept secret such as Bohol, Dumaguete, Apo Island, Siquijor and Cebu. The trip was followed by a 6 day trip to Malaysia for the AirphilExpress Kuala Lumpur Inaugural Flight. During our Malaysia trip, I bagged two (Best Photo and Most number of blog post) out of 4 awards for the bloggers contest. After discovering the beautiful sights, sounds and taste of Malaysia, I’m back in Davao for another Sooo Pinoy Food tour with Unilever Philippines.

Ifugao Weekend Heritage Warriors

July made me a Heritage Warrior🙂 I spent 4 days with PHILTOA Members, Media and John Chua’s team in exploring different World Heritage Sites of Ifugao with the goal of preserving the Ifugao’s natural wonder.

August allowed me to work on my backlogs, unfortunately I was able to finish only half of it:(

Legoland Malaysia
Legoland Malaysia Grand Opening

September made me busy with some of my social media projects but I was able to visit my favorite Hamilo Coast and stayed at The Pico Sands Hotel. Imagine the beach, food and the lush mountain just right in front of your hotel window… truly deserves a five star rating. For the second time, I visited Malaysia for the opening of Legoland Malaysia… Aside from being a food haven, Malaysia is becoming an emerging destination for theme park lovers.

Kelantan Malaysia and Tak Bai Thailand
Kelantan Malaysia and Tak Bai Thailand

In October, I accepted a challenge to explore Kelantan in Malaysia on a shoestring budget. Thanks to Zestair for inviting me on their Kuala Lumpur Inaugural Flight. While exploring Kelantan’s heritage sites, I was able to visit some of Malaysia’s Buddhist temples and the most exciting part would be our short visit in Thailand via Malaysia Pengkalan Kubur (Kelantan) Border. Also during our trip, I was awarded as the overall winner for the Zest Air Malaysia Blogger Adventure Contest which was also co-sponsored by Tourism Malaysia.

Superstar Virgo Malaysia and Singapore Cruise
Superstar Virgo Malaysia and Singapore Cruise

November gave me a chance to join a 4 days 3 nights Asian Cruise with the officers and achievers of Sante International as their Official Photographer. It was my second time on Superstar Virgo (post to follow) but this time, the cruise itinerary was shorter. We only stayed two nights on-board then headed back to Singapore after a short day tour in Malaysia… Yeah I visited Malaysia four times this year:)

Toronto Canada
Toronto Canada

December was an awesome month! It was my first time to apply for a Visa and also my first to visit North America. Along with fellow Pinoy Travel Bloggers and Print Media, we were invited by Philippine Airlines for a familiarization tour in Toronto as part of their Toronto Inaugural Flight. Our stay in Canada was a little bit short but we were lucky to explore some of Toronto’s famous tourists spots like St Lawrence Market, CN Tower, Queens Park and University of Toronto, Toronto Island, famous wineries and Niagara Falls.

Traveling, Photography, Baking and Blogging has been my bread and butter for couple of years now. Trough the years, I realized that no matter how much effort you put on any task that you do, it will not be fruitful if you are not enjoying what you are doing… This 2013, Just continue doing things that you love and try to find ways on how to earn from it:)

Fulfillment for me is not about the number of destinations I’ve been to, Its all about things that I learn from each journey and new friends I find along the way…. Stay Happy and I wish you all the luck this 2013.
