Zubuchon Lechon Cebu
Last month, I visited the house of Market Man in Cebu together with various travel writers to taste the much-talked-about roast pig by Marketman of Market Manila Blog. It was the same place where Chef Antony Bourdain tasted what he calls the best Lechon in the World.

Nearly everyone knows Anthony Bourdain, the traveling chef who has a show on the Travel Channel and goes to far-flung places worldwide in search of the most delicious food to be found anywhere. It turns out that Mr. Bourdain has named the Philippines the place with the best-roasted pig in the world. In fact, this doesn’t come as a surprise to Filipinos, but it probably shocked Mexicans and Puerto Ricans.
Well, one thing is for sure, if you are looking for the best lechon in the entire 7641 islands, the place to head to is Cebu. This easily translates to the fact that the roast lechon in Cebu is the best in the world. I thought CNT Lechon was the best in Cebu, but after tasting this, I finally found my new favorite Lechon.

Even if you want to narrow that down further, you can because Anthony Bourdain took a trip around Cebu and put together the best pork in the country, Zubuchon lechon. Don’t worry; this isn’t reserved only for celebrity chefs but is also available for anyone that wants to buy some while supplies still last.
During our lunch with the Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu Executives, they also served their famous Lechon Sinigang, Lechon Sisig, and their newly introduced Truffle Lechon.

Zubuchon is a real taste treat with incredibly rich-tasting skin that comes crispy and delicious. The flavor of the meat is beyond description. I can try, but this lechon is like nothing you have ever had (unless you’ve had Zubuchon lechon in Cebu before!)
With a kilo of Zubuchon Lechon selling for 450php, it’s well worth the price, and you can pick it up completely fresh or get it frozen and boxed so you can take it to Boracay, Bohol, or Manila with you. The two shops are located in Mactan Airport’s pre-departure area and the Banilad Town Center. The supplies are extremely limited though, so you should pick some up while you can.
There are quite a few ways to cook and eat Zebuchon lechon, and no matter how you do it, you can be sure that you are eating the highest quality and most delicious roast pig that can’t be found anywhere. Whether you plan to serve it as it is or want to cook Lechon Paksiw, the result will be magnificent.
One thing is for sure, you won’t need to enhance the flavor with anything like sarsa ng lechon or other sauce since it’s perfect just the way it is.
