My Nikon D90 DSLR camera is probably one of the most expensive gadgets that i have bought from the money I earned from blogging. Investing in photography gadgets are really expensive that’s why Its important that you choose the right accessory with safety features.
While covering the Aliwan Fiesta couple of months back, A fellow travel photographer shared that his friend’s camera was snatched while inside a passenger jeepney near TM Kalaw. The camera strap was slashed and in just a snap her camera was gone.
Pacsafe Camera Strap
Some prefer to put their dslr camera inside their bag while commuting but I find it very interesting when I wear it on my neck while taking street photos, landmarks and human portraits while inside a private car or passenger vehicles.
During the press conference of Philippine Travel Mart 2009 which was held in Binondo, I saw Ferdz’s PacSafe CarrySafe 100 anti-theft camera strap and immediately got amazed with it’s design and safety features. The strap design was so simple, it may not be attractive for people who loves colorful “Crumpler Camera straps” which I used to like but now I find it way too expensive specially now that camera security is my main priority.
Right after the press conference, Nina and I went straight to Trinoma to buy our own Pacsafe straps. Carrysafe 100 anti-theft camera strap has a built-in slashproof wire hidden in its soft and comfortably lightweight strap. It also has dual locking spring-loaded anchors to make your camera more secured while making your strap seamlessly detachable.

Unlike the free camera strap provided by Nikon, I find this PacSafe lightweight camera strap very comfortable on my neck. Its breathable neck pad is perfectly curved which I think made it more ergonomic..
I have tried using several straps like the one from Crumpler, Nikon (original), Tamrac and Bower but after using Pacsafe camera strap, I think I’ll stick to it unless Pacsafe releases a new one with new features.
Unlike Crumpler which is too expensive, Pacsafe is really a good buy and I bought it at Travel Club – Trinoma for only P1,000. Why would I choose the colorful and expensive crumpler if I can have a comfortable, inexpensive and theft protected strap for just half the price?
Will I recommend it? Of course! I’m very happy with my camera strap! I’ll probably buy a couple and raffle it out soon in this blog:) Watch out for it!!
