Alexander Sherack of SherackCity.com is an Australian travel blogger who just recently started discovering every corner of the world. He recently left his dream corporate job at a big 4 accounting firm to pursue travelling and starting his own business.
El Nido, Philippines
His first big trip overseas was in Europe & North America in 2013. He was away for six months, mostly traveling solo. Alexs’ biggest inspirations are the people he meet whilst travelling. He was amazed to see how people live, what their views are on life and how they choose or are forced to live. Traveling is a continuous learning experience for him.

When did you started blogging, Why do you blog?
Table of Contents
I started blogging recently. I post a lot of pictures on social media, however they really don’t do justice for some of the experiences I’ve had whilst abroad. For example, I once went to a hockey match at Madison Square Garden in New York alone. The next day I was one hour outside of New York City in sleeping in the attic of a suburban hockey rink run by a couple of people I met at the hockey match. I mean, how are you meant to communicate that? Blogging.
Lessons you learned on the road?
How to maximise pleasure and enjoyment whilst minimising cost.

Destinations on your Bucket List?
I can’t even begin to describe my bucket list… I’d like to slap someone in the face with a fish on top of the Eiffel Tower.
Las Vegas, USA
Beach or Mountain?
Mountains! Although I am from Australia and have lived near a beach my whole life, I enjoy the thrill of snowboarding, trekking and simply admiring the different landscapes, flora and fauna of mountains around the world.
How often do you travel by air / land?
Whenever I travel I guess!
New York City, USA
What’s your favorite airport?
Any airport with unlimited wifi!
What is your favorite Hotel?
Any hostel filled with backpackers! Or a house I’ve been invited into.
Phong Nha, Vietnam
What is your preferred Airline?
Being a backpacker I usually opt for the cheapest. There’s nothing quite like a flight sale.
How do you beat jet lag / Motion sickness?
Tip – before a big flight/ commute which will result in jet lag, have a huge night out on town. Confuse your body clock with sleep deprivation and alcohol, before it gets confused by jet lag. By the end of the flight I don’t know how much sleep I’ve lost even if I tried to calculate it with google.
What are your favorite travel gadgets?
Macbook pro. Excel spreadsheets. These two things have been my saving grace.
Any Tips on how to travel light?
Set yourself a challenge – how little clothes can I take with me to survive, look and feel good about myself? Other than that, cut back on shoes.
Best Backpack Brand?
I actually have to find my backpack and read the label to answer this question.
Lowe Alpine. Good quality, hasn’t let me down at all.

What made you decide to visit the Philippines?
If you’ve ever met someone that’s travelled through the Philippines, I guarantee that person will beg you to visit the Philippines. It’s a weird phenomenon but everyone I have met who travelled to this country have said it has been a highlight of any country they’ve ever been to. Funnily enough, now I beg my friends to visit.
