Breakfast at Coco Palms Resort in Danao, Cebu
Looking for a good breakfast place by the open sea in Danao Cebu? On a road trip up north and would love to do a stop-over to stretch your dormant muscles, refuel and re-energize your body and at the same time relax on a hammock while breathing in the fresh sea breeze? Then look no further and read on as the King of Sinulog will share to you his Coco Palms Resort breakfast experience in Danao (resort info).

Leaving Sebastien Hotel in Mactan at six in the morning, we rushed out on a road trip to San Remigio to avoid the early morning traffic in Mandaue, Consolacion and Lilo-an as it was a Tuesday and most people were on their way to work at the city’s industrial parks. We passed by SM Consolacion and since it was still past seven in the morning, we figured that no restaurants were open yet. We first stopped at Titay’s in Lilo-an to see if they serve breakfast, to no avail. What they offered were the pasalubong or gift items usually good for snacks and since we were looking for a rice meal, we continued our search. We also passed by sidewalk carenderias along the way but we were really not sure of their sanitary standards and we will be on the road for quite a while so we opted to find somewhere more decent.

Arriving in Danao, we recalled that there were a number of resorts in the area. We figured that they would have restaurants that open early to serve their in-house guests. Hoping that they would cater to walk-in guests, we tried our luck at D’ Coco Palms Resort (reviews). I’ve been here once before so the ambiance of the place was not a question. We were just not sure about their breakfast offering. Passing by their reception area at the gate by the highway, we drove a few meters more to the lower level by their lawn.

Parking our car at their 20-vehicle capacity parking lot, we went to their restaurant by the public swimming pool to inquire about their breakfast offering. They actually have a breakfast buffet inside a decorated function hall at PHP 250 for their in-house guests and also to their walk-in guests. That would be PHP 1000 for the four of us which was too much for one meal. Checking out their menu, we were happy to find out that they were serving silog meals at PHP 130 which already comes with two eggs cooked to your liking and a choice of coffee or juice. We ordered Spam, Tocino, Corned Beef and Bacon. We added an extra bowl of Chicken Lomi Soup at PHP 140. After ordering, we asked the restaurant staff if it would be alright to eat our breakfast at one of the open cottages with which he happily obliged.

With our orders done, we decided to relax a bit and I went out for a quick stroll around the resort. My favorite part of the resort aside from its wide Bermuda-laden areas and their water sports activities during the weekends was the rooms located at the white and yellow building with a private patio by the exclusive pool with a view of the sea. However, I forgot to inquire about their published rates but you can inquire through their official Facebook page.

Walking back to the cottage, our breakfast was on its way. After waiting for 15 minutes, our food has arrived. Although a silog meal is very easy to prepare, the kitchen crew at the resort did it with finesse and the serving size was enough to satisfy our hunger. Their lomi was also sufficient for sharing with four people. Service was also prompt and very accommodating to our dining needs.

Overall, spending only PHP 693 including the 5% service charge for breakfast, we were happy with our decision on stopping by Coco Palms Resort in Danao and now we are on our way to resume our northbound road trip to San Remigio. Later!
