Welcome the Year of the Rooster with a bang. Head to Shang Palace in Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and experience a so-called “auspicious dining” for the 2017 Chinese New Year.

Starting Jan. 2 through Feb. 11, 2017, you can enjoy a celebratory lunch or dinner at the Shang Palace to ensure good fortune, prosperity, as well as happiness throughout the year.

Offerings

Customers who will take advantage of this auspicious dining will be treated with five set menus plus six types of Yee Sang for around four to 10 persons. What’s great is that this will be prepared by Executive Chinese Chef Tan Kim Weng along with his team.

Yee Sang Varieties

One has the option to order these six types of Yee Sang a la carte for dine-in or takeaway during the said period:

  1. Sliced abalone Yee Sang (priced at RM173 nett)
  2. Korean snow pear Yee Sang (priced at RM91 nett)
  3. Crispy fish skin and jellyfish flower Yee Sang (priced at RM91 nett)
  4. Salmon fish Yee Sang (priced at RM126 nett)
  5. Crispy soft shell crab Yee Sang (priced at RM138 nett)
  6. Tempura lobster meat Yee Sang (priced at RM231 nett)

Five Prosperity Set Menus

Meanwhile, the five prosperity set menus (which is composed of eight or nine courses) include:

  1. Immense Wealth Set Menu at RM547 nett per table of 10 persons
  2. Great Prosperity Set Menu at RM208 nett per person
  3. Rich Fortune Set Menu at RM372 nett per person
  4. Happy Reunion Set Menu at RM2076 nett per table of 10 persons
  5. Wealth Treasures Set Menu at RM3484 nett per table of 10 persons

Note that these set menus begin with Yee Sang and end with Steamed Traditional Ninko that has chilled red bean cake and shredded coconut.

Three Types of Ninko

Available from Jan. 2 through 27, 2017, the types of Ninko that are going to be offered include:

  1. Round traditional brown sugar Ninko with walnuts at RM58 nett
  2. Fish shaped prosperity coconut Ninko at RM68 nett
  3. Round two-layer Ninko in traditional and osmanthus flavours at RM58 nett

That’s not all Shang Place is putting on the table. It also offers an a la carte menu that comes with auspicious dishes. These include, braised sea cucumber with golden garlic and leeks, Poon Choy or braised premium assorted hot dish that is served in a claypot, steamed garoupa with preserved vegetables in soya sauce, braised bird’s nest soup with lobster meat and seafood, Shang Palace’s marinated crispy pipa chicken, wok-fried freshwater king prawns with salted egg yolk sauce, and a lot more.
