Journey to Ever After: In Bloom: A Stylish Celebration of Weddings, Design, and Life in Mactan

Planning a wedding beside the sea feels inherently romantic.

The setting changes the mood. Light becomes part of the décor. The horizon becomes a natural backdrop. A simple afternoon can feel like an occasion, especially when beautiful fashion, exceptional food, thoughtful design, and the right people come together.

That was the atmosphere at Journey to Ever After: In Bloom, a two-day bridal fair that brought Cebu’s wedding and lifestyle community together at Mactan Newtown Beach in Lapu-Lapu City.

Held on September 26 and 27, 2026, the second edition was jointly hosted by Mercure Mactan Cebu and Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown. The Glass Pavilion became a stylish meeting point for soon-to-be-wed couples, wedding creatives, designers, planners, beauty professionals, photographers, and lifestyle brands.

Rather than treating wedding planning as a checklist of suppliers and services, the event presented it as part of a larger lifestyle journey.

The conversation moved from beauty and bridal fashion to dining, property, technology, and the practical realities of building a life together.

The setting was a fitting backdrop for that conversation. Mactan has long been associated with seaside resorts, celebrations, leisure, and destination experiences. Here, the wedding industry naturally extended that lifestyle.

Today’s couples have more freedom to define what their wedding should look and feel like.

Some want an intimate celebration by the sea. Others envision a fashion-forward ceremony, a destination wedding with family and friends, or a sophisticated reception built around exceptional food and design.

Journey to Ever After: In Bloom reflected that evolution.

The event brought together more than 30 wedding planners, stylists, designers, photographers, suppliers, and other creatives, giving couples a chance to explore different approaches to their wedding day.

The experience was as much about discovering a personal aesthetic as it was about finding suppliers.

That distinction matters.

A wedding can be beautifully executed, but the most memorable celebrations often reveal something about the couple. Their personalities appear in the choice of flowers, the music, the menu, the gown, the venue, and even the smallest details on the reception table.

Beauty Begins With Knowing Your Style

The weekend opened with “Beauty Vows,” led by Rhino Deiparine, a Fashion Institute of Design & Arts (FIDA) Mentor and licensed cosmetologist.

The session explored how brides can approach beauty with greater intention, considering face shape, individual features, and personal style.

For luxury weddings, beauty is increasingly about refinement, not excess. The goal is to create a look that photographs beautifully, works with the gown and setting, and still feels unmistakably like the bride.

That philosophy carried naturally into the next presentation.

Finding the Gown That Feels Right

FIDA Mentor and Creative Director Josei Cuizon led “Choosing ‘The One’: A Stylist’s Guide to the Perfect Bridal Look.”

The session explored how body shape, personality, gown silhouette, and the overall wedding concept relate.

A bridal gown is one of the most photographed pieces a person may ever wear. Its impact goes beyond the ceremony. It becomes part of the celebration’s visual memory.

For couples planning destination weddings in Cebu, the setting can also influence the choice.

A seaside ceremony may call for lighter silhouettes and movement. A formal ballroom reception can accommodate more structured designs. An outdoor celebration creates opportunities for gowns that interact beautifully with natural light and the surroundings.

The right dress begins with understanding the bride, then building the look around her.

When Food Becomes Part of the Story

Luxury weddings increasingly treat dining as an experience, not just a meal.

That idea took center stage during “Perfect Pairing: A Chef’s Guide to Curating Your Dream Wedding Dining Experience,” led by Mercure Mactan Cebu Executive Chef Paolo Aviso.

The session explored how couples can build a wedding menu that reflects their tastes and personalities.

Food has an emotional role in celebrations. It can bring family traditions to the table, introduce guests to new flavors, or recreate dishes connected to places and memories important to the couple.

For destination weddings, dining can become even more significant.

Guests may travel from different cities or countries to attend. The wedding meal becomes part of their destination experience.

In Cebu, that creates opportunities to incorporate local ingredients, regional flavors, contemporary Filipino cuisine, and international influences into a sophisticated celebration.

The Wedding Is Only the Beginning

The idea of the wedding as the start of a larger lifestyle journey appeared in “A Beautiful Beginning: A Lasting Investment.”

The session introduced The Mactan Newtown as one place couples can consider as they begin building a life together.

It was a fitting addition to the program.

For many couples, marriage marks the beginning of a series of shared decisions. Where to live, where to invest, how to spend weekends, where to travel, and how to create a home all become part of the next chapter.

The Mactan Newtown combines residential, commercial, hospitality, dining, and leisure components, creating a setting where destination and lifestyle can overlap.

For couples who enjoy an urban coastal environment, that combination offers an alternative perspective on what life after the wedding might look like.

Bringing Technology Into Wedding Planning

Even the most personal celebrations now exist alongside technology.

During the event, Belle Mariée Wedding Events’ Joan Aviso-Lapus discussed the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern wedding planning.

AI can help couples organize ideas, explore concepts, develop inspiration, and streamline some of the more time-consuming parts of planning.

Yet technology was presented as a tool, not the centerpiece.

The human element remains essential.

A wedding is ultimately about people, relationships, memories, and shared experiences. Technology can help organize the process, but the personal story gives the celebration its meaning.

Bridal Fashion Meets the Mactan Coast

The weekend reached its visual high point with a Bridal Fashion Show at the Ceremony Garden.

The open-air venue overlooks the sea, creating a natural setting for a collection of contemporary bridal looks.

As models from Shutter Models and Talent Management walked the runway, the coastal landscape became part of the presentation.

The collections featured contemporary silhouettes, intricate detailing, and different interpretations of the modern bride.

Featured designers included Mel Maria Valerie Alvez, Philipp Tampus, Cris Escobido, Ia Coca, Maria Navarrete, Ayka Lim, Yoko Sato, Jeanom Ursua, Rabbi, and Reynan Paul.

FIDA Director Marissa-Gapud Ceniza directed the fashion show.

The setting was particularly well-suited to a destination wedding market like Cebu. A ceremony overlooking the water has a different visual language from a traditional ballroom wedding. The surroundings become part of the experience, from the changing afternoon light to the sea breeze and open horizon.

The range of exhibitors reflected today’s increasingly sophisticated expectations.

Wedding planning has expanded into a complete lifestyle industry, where fashion, beauty, food, design, photography, travel, entertainment, and hospitality intersect.

Mactan as a Destination Wedding Setting

Cebu has long been one of the Philippines’ most accessible wedding and celebration destinations.

Mactan, in particular, offers a compelling combination of seaside scenery, hospitality, dining, entertainment, and proximity to Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

For couples bringing guests from Manila or overseas, accessibility can be a major consideration. A destination wedding needs to work for the couple, but it also needs to be comfortable for the people traveling to celebrate with them.

Mactan offers the advantage of turning a wedding into a longer getaway.

Guests can arrive early, stay at nearby hotels, enjoy the beach, explore Cebu’s dining scene, and extend the celebration beyond the ceremony and reception.

That makes the destination wedding concept particularly attractive for couples who want their wedding to feel like an experience shared with the people closest to them.

A Celebration of Cebu’s Creative Community

Journey to Ever After: In Bloom ultimately offered a glimpse into Cebu’s growing wedding and lifestyle scene.

The event connected couples with local creatives while demonstrating how weddings have evolved into highly personalized experiences.

There was fashion. There was beauty. There was food. There was design. There was technology. Conversations covered property and life after marriage.

And throughout the weekend, the sea was there. That combination gave the event its distinct character.

At Mactan Newtown Beach, wedding planning became part of a broader conversation about how couples want to live, travel, celebrate, and create memories together.

For those preparing to walk down the aisle, the journey may begin with choosing a gown or booking a venue. But the bigger decision is deciding what kind of experience they want their wedding to create.

At Journey to Ever After: In Bloom, that experience began in Mactan, surrounded by Cebu’s wedding creatives, contemporary fashion, thoughtful dining, and the unmistakable presence of the sea.
