SB19 Named the Philippines’ New Tourism Ambassadors, Bringing Filipino Culture to the Global Stage

The Philippines is set to gain even more international attention as the Department of Tourism (DOT) officially names P-Pop supergroup SB19 as its newest Tourism Ambassadors. More than just chart-topping artists, the five-member group has become a global symbol of Filipino talent, creativity, and culture, making them ideal ambassadors to inspire travelers from around the world to discover the beauty of the Philippines.

The announcement comes as SB19 prepares for a series of milestone performances in the United States and Japan, where they will proudly represent the country on some of the world’s biggest stages. Their growing international fanbase, known as A’TIN, has become a powerful force in promoting not only Filipino music but also Philippine tourism.

A Symbolic Send-Off Before Their Global Tour

Before departing for the United States and Japan, SB19 received a meaningful surprise from the Department of Tourism—a specially curated “Galingbayan” box. Inspired by the iconic balikbayan box traditionally sent by overseas Filipinos to loved ones back home, the package symbolizes love, connection, and Filipino hospitality despite distance.

The thoughtful gesture was shared through the official Tourism Philippines social media channels, while SB19 acknowledged the gift on their own platforms, officially confirming their new role as Tourism Ambassadors.

The reveal followed days of online speculation after the DOT teased the partnership with five goat emojis—widely recognized by fans as a reference to the group being the “Greatest of All Time.”

Why SB19 Is the Perfect Choice

According to Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay, SB19’s influence extends far beyond music.

With millions of followers across Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East, the group has cultivated an incredibly loyal global audience. Their success has inspired overseas Filipinos to reconnect with their roots, while introducing international fans to Filipino culture through music, storytelling, and visual artistry.

Many Filipino-Americans have even traveled back to the Philippines specifically to watch SB19 perform live, while fans from neighboring ASEAN countries regularly book flights to attend concerts in Manila. This growing travel trend highlights how music can inspire cultural tourism and strengthen emotional connections with the country.

For the Department of Tourism, SB19 represents a modern gateway for introducing the Philippines to younger international travelers.

Encouraging Fans to Experience the Philippines

As Tourism Ambassadors, SB19 will collaborate with the Department of Tourism on campaigns encouraging A’TIN and international visitors to experience the Philippines beyond its music.

The goal is simple: transform admiration for Filipino artists into curiosity about Filipino destinations, cuisine, traditions, festivals, and hospitality.

SB19 member Josh Cullen shared that the partnership has long been something the group hoped for, saying they want to make a genuine impact by connecting with the global Filipino community and sharing Philippine culture through their growing international platform.

Their message aligns perfectly with the DOT’s mission of encouraging more overseas Filipinos and foreign travelers to rediscover the country.

Filipino Culture Has Always Been Part of SB19’s Identity

One reason the partnership feels natural is that SB19 has consistently celebrated Filipino identity throughout their career.

From producing visually stunning music videos inspired by local culture to incorporating Filipino themes into their creative work, the group has built a distinct identity that resonates globally while remaining proudly rooted in the Philippines.

Their international breakthrough hit “GENTO” introduced millions of listeners to Filipino artistry, while their hands-on involvement in conceptualizing music videos and creative projects showcases the country’s growing influence in global entertainment.

Now, as official Tourism Ambassadors, they have an even bigger platform to showcase the Philippines to the world.

Historic Global Milestones Ahead

SB19’s appointment coincides with several groundbreaking achievements that continue to raise the Philippine flag internationally.

On July 29, the group will become the first Filipino act to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball game before the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees matchup.

The following day, they will make history once again as the first Filipino group to perform at the world-renowned Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago’s Grant Park.

Their international journey continues into Japan, where they are scheduled to perform at Summer Sonic 2026 in both Osaka and Tokyo, one of Asia’s largest music festivals. They will be joined by fellow Filipino artists ena mori and BINI, with BINI also recently named as Tourism Ambassadors by the Department of Tourism.

Music as a Gateway to Philippine Tourism

SB19’s appointment reflects the evolving landscape of tourism promotion, where music, entertainment, and digital communities have become powerful drivers of travel.

With dedicated fan communities spanning the United States, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Southeast Asia, and beyond, SB19 has demonstrated how cultural influence can inspire people to visit the Philippines, reconnect with their heritage, and experience Filipino hospitality firsthand.

The Department of Tourism plans to roll out more collaborative campaigns with SB19 in the coming months, highlighting destinations, traditions, and experiences that showcase the country’s diverse culture.

As the P-Pop Kings continue to conquer international stages from Chicago to Tokyo, they are also carrying something even more meaningful—the story of the Philippines. Through music, culture, and authentic Filipino pride, SB19 is helping introduce the country to a new generation of global travelers, proving that the journey to the Philippines can begin with a single song.
