Restaurant Review: The Bulldog Burger and Hotdog Bar in Osnabrück, Germany

The Bulldog Burger and Hotdog Bar Review

(Osnabrück, Germany) Burgers for lunch sure sounds like a good idea, always. So when I caught wind of the newest opening of The Bulldog (FB Page) in the Osnabrücker Alstadt, I wasted no time to go visit the place.

New Bulldog In Town

The Bulldog Burger and Hotdog Bar flew its doors open this week at the new L+T Sport Building in the heart of the city. This is there second branch, with the first being a stone’s throw away from the old town. My interest on this burger joint has been piqued for months now, and its new branch has convinced me to come check it out.

Lunchtime Yum

My husband and I decided to drop by at lunchtime since burgers are heavy and are good as a lunch meal. Good thing we got ourselves a table and we were attended to promptly. So we ordered off their Burger-Deal Special which consisted of any burger of your choice, any drink (except the new shake), and a side dish. Service was a bit slow that day, probably because of the lunchtime crowd.

What We Ordered

We ordered the Machete burger with Dip-Chips and the Don Burger with their Knoblauchfritten (Garlic Fries). First impressions were that the burgers looked absolutely pretty, but they don’t seem to look as compact as a burger should be. It is a norm here in Germany to eat burgers with a knife and fork.

The Machete was delicious, according to my husband. He ordered it at my suggestion since he is into hot and spicy foods. The burger was hot and spicy, but not as hot and spicy as my husband would prefer. The patty was cooked medium and was moist. The interesting part of the meal was the Dip-Chips. These chips were shaped into scoops to hold dips well.

Mine was their The Don burger with Knoblauchfritten (Garlic Fries). My burger was moist and juicy, and was cooked medium. I like the fact that the burger has a lot of Arugula in it! And as for the hefty side of Knoblauchfritten, I can say that this is my favourite fries. I am a fan of garlic and I approve this serving. Every piece of the fries itself has a kick of garlic and I couldn’t stop eating!

Chocolate-Caramel Shake

We ordered their new Chocolate-Caramel Shake. It was good but not that frothy. It tasted more Chocolatey than Chocolate-Caramelly. Still enjoyable, though.

The Verdict

Overall, we enjoyed our meal. The burgers were juicy, pink, and succulent. And the flavour of the patties — at least in mine alone — was delightful. I could tell that the beef was seasoned with just salt and pepper, just like steak. I enjoyed the Knoblauchfritten so much that I imagined if I could drop by again and order just that. I’d be really happy. Every self-respecting garlic fan should have this kind of fries, to be completely honest.

Come for the burgers and hotdogs, stay for the ambiance. Noise inside the burger bar is manageable. You can also stay for a cocktail or two at their cocktail bar.
