Café Du Tukon: Discovering Ivatan Cuisine

Where to Eat in Batanes: Café Du Tukon

Café Du Tukon is located at Fundacion Pacita Batanes Nature Lodge. It is a great way to treat yourselves with Ivatan delicious dishes after touring around Batanes. Eating at Café Du Tukon before heading back home is what we did to wrap up our Batanes trip.

Café Du Tukon is a farm-to-table kind of restaurant. Most of their dishes are organic, locally produced by Ivatans living in Sitio Tukon, and some come straight from their own backyards. They make their own jams and slices of bread too. My friend and I enjoyed dining here while enjoying family Abad’s artwork.

We had our last dinner in Café Du Tukon before going back to our home. We’re really excited to taste their food since my friend suggested to try their family’s restaurant. They have a wide range of menu and dishes from appetizer, pasta, entrée, soup, paella, and dessert. The price range of their menu is very reasonable because they serve gourmet and high quality of food.

Ambiance

Café Du Tukon has this very comfy and cozy vibe in its place. Lots of bricks and woodworks. I love their variation of chairs and tables; different colors and design add to its quirky but intimate feel of the café.

You can see from the window the beauty of Batanes. You can spot the PAGASA Weather Station, Tukon Chapel, Mt. Iraya, and Fundacion Pacita. Isn’t a great view to dine in? Savouring while talking about your fun experiences in Batanes.

How to get there?

Ride a tricycle in Batan city proper and ask the driver to drop you to Fundacion Pacita. The tricycle is charging 200 per 2 people there, and that’s one way. What we did is we asked the Kuya who drove us around Batanes to get a lower price. If you want, you can just hire a bicycle and go there but mind you, the road is uphill, just an option.

I LOVE BATANES!

Traveling without gastronomic trips is nothing. You have to explore their food together with its culture; by doing that, you’ll get to know more about the place you visit. Really enjoyed their food and the place! The dinner we had in Café Du Tukon wraps up our Batanes trip. Traveling in this beautiful province doesn’t have to drain your pockets. I would love to go back here!

Make your reservations first.
