A wine journey in Canada is never complete without visiting the Jackson- Triggs Winery in Niagara Estate. The winery has a long standing tradition of producing premium wines from Canada and around the world.

The Jackson-Triggs Winery has a number of Vineyards including Niagara Estate, Okanagan Estate, Delaine Vineyard and SunRock Vineyard. It is situated in 11.5 acres of the Niagara Peninsula. This winery was included in our itinerary since our last destination would be the famous Niagara Falls.

While heading to the famous Jackson Triggs Winery, we noticed a lot of stores that produces and sells wine but we will only visiting two of the most famous wineries in Niagara-on-the-lake. The typically cool climate of this region is very favourable for the winery.

I was told that the wines produced here can be matched with some of the world class wines produced in regions such as Burgundy, Oregon, New Zealand and Germany when it comes to Ice Wines. The Classic varietals of the Vineyard include that of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling grown from the finest vinifera Clones. Surprisingly, we found a number of vineyards with fresh grapes waiting to be picked right outside their restaurant and wine store.

The wine here is made from premium vinifera grapes such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. Visiting  the Jackson Triggs Winery will educate you on a variety of things.  The seven major varietals are showcased in the winery as a part of the visitor education program which I was part of.

An intimate guided tour can also be arranged for those who wish to explore the finest aspects of wine-making including the state-of-art of the winery. What I thoroughly enjoyed most was the tasting gallery and the vineyards surrounding the restaurant and the wine store.
