Hotel Review: The Oriental Hotel in Legaspi City, Albay
After a long 10-hour drive from Manila, we finally arrived at our hotel. I can still remember the cool breeze entering the vast entrance of The Oriental Hotel in Legazpi (hotel info). It was a gloomy morning in Legazpi, and Mount Mayon was hiding in the clouds.
The Oriental Hotel is peacefully located atop the Taysan Hills, Sto. Nino Village in Legazpi City.

While waiting for our access cards, we sat over at the grand lobby, which is definitely a feast in the eyes. It has comfortable sofas and amazing local art pieces which complement the purple backdrops. I’m pretty sure creative and modern travelers will love the exuberant yet elegant receiving area.
Although I’m not an interior design expert, everything in the lobby is almost perfect and convenient. Its ergonomically designed lobby includes making use of the vast spaces for people to walk in freely and a grand piano which creates a semblance. Their in-house restaurant is located on the left side of the entrance. On the right part is Café Al Fresco.
Let’s take you on tour to this refreshing hotel, who’s nothing but a provider of utmost comfort and exemplary service.
Room Accommodation

There’s nothing more satisfying than disconnecting from reality. But even more satisfying if you stayed in one of the rooms at The Oriental Hotel (hotel reviews). We stayed in a Deluxe Room, which was surprising because it was huge. There’s a lot of space for 2 more extra beds.
A minimalist approach was obvious in the room’s vibe. Our room is exquisitely furnished with a Modern Electronic Energy Saving Device, an executive work desk, telephone, 32” inch TV, mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities, an electronic in-room safe, and a bathroom with complete amenities as well.
The interesting part of the room? Opening the curtains and viewing the perfect coned-shaped Mount Mayon. It’s a face-to-face paradise that’s relaxing; you won’t want to leave the room.
Hotel Facilities
What’s a hotel without a spa, right? Well, guess what? The Oriental Hotel houses its spa and gym in its basement area for a more private atmosphere. They also have an infinity pool with a depth of 4 meters and an unparalleled view of the Mayon Volcano.
The Oriental Hotel also houses its Grand Ballroom for events and conferences, which can accommodate up to 1000 people.
The Jasmine Restaurant and Cafe Al Fresco

It was our 2nd day when the Mayon Volcano appeared right before us during our breakfast at The Jasmine Restaurant.
The visually appealing restaurant, with its plum-colored chairs, hanging rattan balls, and a hand-made shell for its interiors, is one of a kind. They have a bread station, cereals, rice meals, and local homemade dishes for the breakfast menu.

They offer Asian and homemade Bicol dishes, including Pasta Bicolandia, Baluko Florentine, and Bagnet ala Bicol Express, a thick-cut pork belly with rich coconut cream sauce, to name a few.
In the afternoon, you can enjoy a cup of coffee at Café Al Fresco in their awesome cocoon couches.
Thing To Do in Albay
There are plenty of activities to do in Albay. Although the hotel also arranges sightseeing tours, I should try binge-eating the local delicacies and fusion dishes with sili. Visit the famous Colonial Grill, Waway’s Restaurant, or maybe after, ride an ATV and get up close with the volcano, or visit the picturesque Mayon Volcano at Cagsawa Ruins.
To experience the live and vibrant scene, go to the Embarcadero and explore shops and restaurants where you can taste everything about Albay.
