2GO Strengthens Connections to Support Mindanao’s Next Chapter of Growth
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — As Mindanao strengthens its role in the Philippine economy, reliable transportation and logistics are becoming increasingly important in helping businesses reach new markets and connecting travelers with destinations across the country.

2GO, the Philippines’ largest integrated end-to-end transportation and logistics solutions provider, is strengthening its network in Mindanao as the region continues to expand across agriculture, fisheries, manufacturing, energy, mining, exports, and tourism.
The company highlighted its commitment to Mindanao during the 35th Mindanao Business Conference, held in Cagayan de Oro City from August 11 to 13. The conference carried the theme, “Accelerating Inclusive Growth through Innovation and Sustainability: Bridging the Gap, Scaling the Future.”
Speaking at the event on August 12, 2GO Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer William Howell emphasized the importance of connectivity in building a stronger and more inclusive economy.
“When we talk about the future of the Philippine economy, Mindanao is not a peripheral story,” Howell said.
He pointed to Mindanao’s significant contributions to agriculture, fisheries, energy, manufacturing, mining, exports, and tourism. According to Howell, the region can unlock even more economic potential by making it easier for products, people, investments, and opportunities to move between markets.
Connecting Mindanao to More Markets
For 2GO, connectivity goes beyond transporting cargo from one port to another. It helps businesses reach customers, allows farmers and producers to access wider markets, and gives communities better access to employment and tourism opportunities.
Howell identified four key areas supporting Mindanao’s economic advantage: industry, growth engines, connectivity, and tourism.
While Mindanao already produces competitive agricultural and manufactured products and continues to attract investments, connectivity serves as the link between these industries and their potential markets.
“Connectivity is not merely about moving goods and passengers. It is about enabling commerce, expanding access, attracting investments, and strengthening communities,” Howell said.
2GO supports this movement through an integrated portfolio of freight, logistics, and travel services.
Its 2GO Forwarding network currently includes 93 distribution hubs and warehouses across the Philippines, including 18 in Mindanao. The network handles around 1.5 million packages, equivalent to approximately 150,000 transactions, in Mindanao each year.
Strengthening Sea Freight and Logistics
Through 2GO Sea Solutions, the company connects Mindanao with major commercial centers throughout the Philippines.
Its network includes ports in Cagayan de Oro, Ozamiz, Butuan, Dipolog, Davao, General Santos, and Zamboanga, forming part of 2GO’s 20-port network nationwide.
In 2025, 2GO transported approximately 2.5 million metric tons of cargo to, from, and within Mindanao, supporting the movement of products across the region and the rest of the country.
The company also provides specialized logistics services for industries with more complex requirements. These include project logistics for major developments, cold chain solutions for agricultural and food products, e-commerce logistics, and cross-docking services designed to speed up the movement of goods.
For businesses operating in Mindanao, these services can provide more options for moving products efficiently from production areas to distributors, retailers, and customers.
Making Travel Across the Philippines Easier
Connectivity also means helping people move.
Through 2GO Travel, the company provides passenger services connecting Mindanao with destinations in Luzon and the Visayas. The network serves entrepreneurs, workers, tourists, families, and communities traveling for business and leisure.
2GO Travel currently operates 36 active passenger routes nationwide, including 18 routes with connections to Mindanao.
The network supports 37 weekly voyages connecting Mindanao with Luzon and the Visayas, providing travelers with additional options for reaching key destinations while supporting tourism and economic activity.
For leisure travelers, these connections also make it easier to explore destinations across the Philippine archipelago by sea.
Supporting Mindanao’s Long-Term Growth
2GO’s participation in the Mindanao Business Conference forms part of its continued engagement with government agencies, business organizations, chambers, and industry leaders in the region.
Earlier this year, 2GO worked with the Mindanao Development Authority and the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. to bring regional industry leaders together to discuss logistics challenges and opportunities for improving supply chain connectivity across Mindanao.
The conference itself placed connectivity at the heart of conversations about the region’s future. Sessions explored economic strategic foresight, connectivity and resilience, smart industrial development, energy transition, digital infrastructure, trade, climate-smart business, tourism, and financing for micro, small, and medium enterprises.
These discussions reflect a broader reality: Mindanao’s growth depends not only on what the region produces but also on how efficiently those products, services, people, and ideas can reach the rest of the country and the world.
By bringing together sea freight, forwarding, specialized logistics, and passenger travel, 2GO aims to play a bigger role in that process.
As Mindanao enters its next chapter of economic growth, stronger connections can help businesses reach new customers, travelers discover more destinations, and communities gain access to more opportunities across the Philippines.
For a region with such a significant role in the country’s agriculture, manufacturing, trade, and tourism sectors, better connectivity could be key to turning Mindanao’s economic potential into broader, more inclusive growth.
