Smart partners with WeChat for the latest ‘Smart WeChat Go Philippines’
Connectivity while traveling is made more convenient, thanks to the recent partnership of Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and WeChat as they launch Smart WeChat Go Philippines.
This program aims to serve millions of Chinese tourists as they travel around the globe, but most especially to help them experience traveling the Philippines with greater ease and convenience.
WeChat, operated by Tencent, is China’s most widely-used one-stop app with over 1 billion users relying on it for functions such as online messaging, mobile payment, transportation and travel, hotel reservations, and more.
The program has currently a vast tie-up in Europe, Malaysia, and Singapore. Not only it can be used for online messaging, but it also has options such as mobile payment, coupons, tourist information, hotel, restaurant, and airline reservations, as well as travel insurance, and many more. It also features a convenient Chinese-language user interface, easy top-up via Smart Mini Program, secure payments using users’ WeChat wallets, and more.

Seamless travel in the Philippines
Alongside the expansion is the Smart WeChat Go SIM which will benefit half a million Chinese visiting the country. Through this sim card, Chinese users can now experience convenient online transactions while traveling and take note, it comes with free WeChat access.
Depending on the SIM package, users can use up to 4GB of mobile data and up to 30 minutes of international calls to mainland China.
Smart WeChat Go SIM comes in two variants:
- Package A (PHP 225) – Daily Access to WeChat, 15 minutes of international calls to China, and 2GB of open access data valid for 5 days
- Package B (PHP 345) – Daily Access to WeChat, 30 minutes of international call to China, and 4GB of open access data valid for 8days
