Singapore Airlines Unveils Next-Generation Long-Haul Cabins, Investing S$2 Billion in Luxury and Comfort
Singapore Airlines (SIA) is investing more than S$2 billion (approximately PHP 98 billion) to introduce next-generation First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class cabins, promising passengers greater comfort, privacy, and personalization on long-haul flights.

Customers travelling together can request to open the privacy divider between the centre seats, creating a shared space for dining and relaxing. The two seats can be used independently or together, moving in tandem to form a two-seater sofa or transform into the largest double bed in commercial aviation.
The next-generation cabin products will enter service in the second half of 2027, starting on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 aircraft and the airline’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 fleet.
The major cabin investment supports Singapore Airlines’ ongoing efforts to elevate the entire travel experience, with redesigned seating, smarter cabin controls, enhanced entertainment options, and more personal space across all four cabin classes.
Singapore Airlines First Class: A New Level of Luxury
The next-generation First Class cabin will introduce sliding doors at every seat, offering passengers enhanced privacy and a more exclusive experience.
One standout feature lets passengers transform the two center seats into a double bed. Singapore Airlines describes this as the largest double bed in commercial aviation, offering couples and travelers seeking extra space a new option.
The cabin’s design creates a personal sanctuary in the sky, with adaptable features that let passengers work, dine, relax, and sleep more comfortably.

Business Class Designed for Better Sleep and Privacy
Singapore Airlines’ new Business Class seats will prioritise ergonomics, comfort, and flexibility, especially for passengers on long-haul and ultra-long-haul routes.

The redesigned seats will feature enhanced privacy, adaptable personal spaces, and companion beds, allowing passengers traveling together to enjoy a more flexible experience.
Smart cabin controls will also remember passengers’ preferred settings across journeys, making it easier to personalize the onboard environment.
These enhancements aim to improve the overall experience for business travelers, frequent flyers, and leisure passengers seeking greater comfort during long flights.
Premium Economy and Economy Class Get More Comfort
Singapore Airlines is also upgrading its Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins, bringing improved comfort and convenience to passengers across its long-haul network.
The new seating products will offer more space, enhanced comfort, greater convenience, and refreshed entertainment options.
The airline’s research-driven approach aims to meet changing traveler expectations, including the need for more functional seating, intuitive controls, and a more enjoyable experience on long flights.
New Cabins Informed by Extensive Passenger Research
The next-generation cabin designs were developed following extensive research involving more than 5,000 frequent travelers, customers, airline employees, and industry experts worldwide.
Singapore Airlines conducted focus groups, interviews, surveys, and concept testing to better understand how passengers spend their time onboard, from working and dining to relaxing and sleeping.

The findings highlighted growing demand for privacy, flexibility, comfort, intuitive functionality, and personalized travel experiences.
SIA collaborated with international design specialists to develop the new cabins. PriestmanGoode worked on First Class, Designworks on Business Class, and Factorydesign on Premium Economy and Economy Class.
The airline also partnered with Collins Aerospace for the new First Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class seats, while RECARO Aircraft Seating developed the Business Class seats.

When Will Singapore Airlines Introduce Its New Cabins?
Singapore Airlines will begin rolling out the next-generation cabin products in the second half of 2027.
The upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft will feature the new First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class products.

Meanwhile, 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft will receive the new Business Class seats. Singapore Airlines will also introduce First Class cabins on its A350-900ULR fleet for the first time.
For travelers planning future international trips, these upgrades signal Singapore Airlines’ continued investment in premium long-haul travel, with a focus on comfort, privacy, and personalized experiences.
