Scenic Destinations To Discover In Cagayan Valley Region

Palaui Island is indeed one of Cagayan Valley Region’s finest, but if your trip starts and ends there, then you’re missing a lot of what this beautiful region has to offer.

Home to some of the most scenic locations in the country, following are other must-see places in Cagayan Valley Region.

Mount Iraya

If you’re up to a stimulating hike with breathtaking views afterwards, Mount Iraya is an excellent place to go to. Note though that this is for the more experienced mountain climbers out there, seeing that the trek time takes around five to six hours both ways. The view from the top, however, is awe-inspiring as clouds cover most of the spot. If you’re not big on hiking, however, just seeing this mountain from afar should already be a picture to remember.

Basco Lighthouse

You’ll find that this region in northern tip of the Philippines is home to lots of lighthouses – all of which provide an excellent panorama once you reach the top. The Basco Lighthouse is no different but for some intangible reason, it’s been ranked as a traveler’s choice. What exactly made this lighthouse so special? Add this to your list and find out what special something others saw from this spot.

Anguib Beach

Palaui Island is amazing, but Anguib Beach is every bit as alluring with its vast sand and soothing sea water. If you’ve seen the pristine beaches of El Nido, then prepare for an almost exact copy as the coastline is free from any sort of commercialism. It’s a long ride to the Anguib Beach, but once you’re there, the utter lack of people makes the trip more than worth it.

Marlboro Hills

If you’ve seen the old school Windows wallpaper of green rolling hills, you might think it was inspired by the Marlboro Hills. The greeneries seem endless and despite the relatively easy trek, the view from the top is magnificent. What’s really great about this place, however, is the cool breeze that lulls you to sleep. The Marlboro Hills is perhaps one of the images that pop to mind when you think of Batanes in Cagayan Valley Region.

Sierra Cave

If you’re done exploring the heights of Cagayan, it’s probably time to check out what’s under. What’s great about the Sierra Cave is that it’s right beside the Callao Cave; therefore, letting you hit two birds with one stone. The Sierra Cave, however, is a tougher challenge and requires you to be flexible, strong, and have rubber shoes that can withstand the abuse. The sights are definitely worth it and although it’s no bird’s eye view, you’ll be getting a scene that’s much more compelling.

Magapit Suspension Bridge

Yes – it’s man made, but that doesn’t make it any less appealing. This hanging bridge is a marvel of engineering that’s best enjoyed during sunrise or sunset. Mind the traffic, though, because the bridge is 100 percent operational – so there would be lots of vehicles on the road.

Of course, these are just few of the top destinations you can check out in the Cagayan Valley region. Make sure to fix your itinerary so that your targeted locations would be near each other for one long splendid trip.
