Boracay among the CTrip Top 10 Island Destinations in the World
Despite the negative sentiments of some tourists and visitors on Boracay Island recently because of the presence of Green Algae on its waters, Boracay Island is still a great travel destination and it has yet again received another award for its extreme elegance and uniqueness.
March 7, 2017, the Department of Foreign Affairs released a statement regarding the win of the Philippines on the Boracay Island. The Philippines was chosen and included in the list of CTrip Top 10 Islands Destinations Awards 2016 along the side of countries Bali, Guam, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Okinawa, Phuket, Saipan, and Tahiti.
The awarding ceremony of the CTrip Travel Awards occurred in the brand new 7-star Wanda Reign Hotel at Bund in Shanghai.
The CTrip Travel Awards Ceremony is just on its second year. It desires to identify and give credit to the best places and attractions in the world, and also to award the best travel service companies.
CTrip.com International Ltd. (CTRP) was established in the year 1999 in Shanghai, China. It is one of the leading companies when it comes to services related to travel such as hotel reservations, ticket booking, itinerary tour packages and deals, and even corporate business trips.
The Philippine’s Consulate General in Shangai, Vice Consul André Peter C. Estanislao, was the one who received this prestigious award in account of the Philippines.
According to the Tourism Office of Boracay Island, there has actually been an increase in visitors for 2017 compared to last year. The number of arrivals this year is 174, 183 compared to last years’, around the same time, which was only 173,256. And they are expecting more visitors for their yearly Laboracay this year.
Boracay Island is also anticipating the arrivals of cruise ships, and probably more in number for this year. There have already been two cruise ships that have anchored in Boracay.
The island has also become a setting for different types of sports events such as the Boracay International Bach Volley Competition held in April, the International Dragon Boat Competition which takes place in May, and also the Boracay Internatinal Fun Board Cup in October.
In previous years, Boracay Island was also awarded with different recognitions. Just in 2016, Boracay Island reached the top spot of the Top 10 Destinations to Watch list of the magazine, Condé Nast Traveler. In 2014, Boracay Island also received the top recognition for Best Island in the World by Condé Nast Traveler. And on 2012, it was awarded as 2012 Best Island in the World of the famous travel magazine, Travel + Leisure.
