The King of Sinulog and other Cebu bloggers are off for a taste of the best of Madeleine Patisserie located along the hotel’s lobby level Gourmet Walk. By the way, the term Madeleine is actually a type of sponge cake covered with jam and coconut. Join us as we take a bite to these sweet and delightful creations of French Executive Pastry Chef, Benoit Andre Laboureux .
Madeleine is a French bakery with an open design wherein hotel guests can simply stop by and point whatever it is they like to try out, the same concept patterned after patisseries in France. It also has an alfresco seating capacity of 30 people if the guests decide to eat on the spot.
Madeleine’s offerings range from chocolate confections, cakes, quiches and freshly baked breads. They also accept orders for custom-made cakes for special occasions. Some popular cafes and coffee shops in Cebu also partner with Madeleine which confirms the quality of their products.
After taking pictures, we now proceeded to my favorite part, eating. Basically, we had to share so that we could taste a little of everything.
I started with the outcast, the Tuna Sandwich at PHP150, so as not to confuse my palate. Tuna combined with lettuce, cheese and mayo was delicious and considerably healthy as well.
The next ones I tried were the Danish Strawberry at PHP80 and Doughnut Vanilla at PHP65 and they were enormously good.
Aside from being freshly prepared, I loved the texture and the simple dynamic of the Ham and Cheese Croissant that I could eat this every single day paired with a glass of wine.
Now, for the battle of the cakes, the third place goes to the Island Cake at PHP190 since the sweet and a bit sour taste with the grated coconut sprinkles on the outside was just not for me. Tied at second place were the Blueberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Delice each at PHP150 since these flavors are too mainstream. For me, the winner is the newly-introduced Mille Feuille Vanilla at PHP145 with a subtle sweetness and varying textures that you’ll surely can’t get enough of. Definitely a must-try!
Though a little bit pricey, you’re still paying for French quality. If you’re used to ordering desserts at popular cafes, then you’d surely notice that the prices are relatively cheaper here.
Although, peak service hours would surely produce a queue, Madeleine’s simple, quick and hassle-free system will surely have your order in an instant.
Overall, if you want to satisfy your dessert cravings, then Madeleine is perfect for you.
