Dijkpoort is another Hattem architectural treasure; it is the city’s sole existing city gate, which was renovated and partially rebuilt by architect Pierre Cuypers. The installation of a wall walk and corner turrets, distinguished by the various hues of the stones, was made.

The history of this structure is far more complex than the date on the gable stone reveals. The 1852 octagonal scaffolding mill replaced a mill built in 1808. The ancient mill had been closed for a long time and was in poor condition by the 1960s. The mill is back in regular operation after a thorough renovation in 1970, and it may now be visited every Saturday. A bakery selling handmade bread and cake mixes is located on the first floor.
