A Celebration of Filipino Flavors at Café Veranda
Open to serve in as early as 6 in the morning up until 10 in the evening every day, Café Veranda at Taal Vista Hotel continues its commitment to serve excellent cuisines of varying Filipino and Continental dishes. More than just a place of good meal, you can enjoy the gentle afternoon breeze and panoramic view of Taal Volcano while dining at the place.

In celebration of Taal Vista Hotel‘s diamond anniversary, Café Veranda will host to a number of celebrity guest chefs namely chefs Fernando Aracama, Sau del Rosario, Babes Austria, Edwin Santos, Bruce Lim, Rolando and Jackie Laudico in an almost 2-month event entitled Culinary Gems: A Festival of Filipino Food Flavors wherein these chefs are to take over the Café Veranda kitchen to present their unique interpretations of the Filipino cuisine. The event is only active during the weekends throughout the duration of almost 3 months.
Chef Babes’ famous Lumpiang Sariwa
During the weekly event, each chef will present their cooking to guests starting at 11:30 in the morning which will lasts until 3 in the afternoon. Scheduled for appearances at September 6-7 and 13-14 respectively, Chef Fernando Aracama graced his diners with his own cooking. Chef Sau del Rosario, on the other hand, had his similar appearances last September 20-21 and 27-28, followed by Chef Babes Austria last October 4-5 and 11-12. Doing the same feat, Chef Edwin Santos will showcase his cooking on October 18-19 and 25-26, followed by Bruce Lim on November 1-2 and 8-9. Lastly, couple chefs Rolando and Jackie Laudico will have their duo cooking appearance on November 15-16 and 22-23.

Some of us may have known that among these celebrity guest chefs, one has already worked in the government doing paper works only to choose to cook in it instead – it was no other than Chef Babes Austria herself.

Originally employed in the financial sector of the government,Chef Babes Austria chose to hold the position as an executive chef in the Malacanang Palace which she held most notably during the administration of former president, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Not just that, she also was formerly an executive chef of Taal Vista Hotel itself to where she is coo king at again just for the event. Currently, she is now a food consultant for SM Hotel Group and now owns her own restaurant called Garden Family Restaurant in Tagaytay City.

As expected from a good dining experience, this has been a filling experience so far from the ones we were able to attend, literally. Although while not yet finished, we are yet still to be graced by Chef Babes Austria’s last batch of recipe this coming weekend, followed by chefs Edwin Santos, Bruce Lim, Rolando and Jackie Laudico’s for the coming weekends.
