Singapore Tourism Board marks 50th year anniversary with Up Dharma Down music video
This year, Singapore marks the 50th year of their country’s independence. It celebrates year-round with festivities, acknowledging the many things that have contributed to the building of their great nation.

A large contributor to Singapore’s economic growth is the boom in their tourism in the last few years. And the Philippines is largely to thank for that, as Filipinos have been visiting Singapore and touring it since the mid-90’s.

To celebrate with Singapore’s golden jubilee, Filipino indie band Up Dharma Down launched their new single “All The Good Things,” featuring Singapore as the backdrop to their new music video.

Like many Filipinos, Up Dharma Down also considers Singapore as one of their favorite places to go to when they travel. The Singapore Tourism Board partnered up with the band to showcase the popular travel destination in a new light, and the song is a perfect fit to highlight a brand new Singapore experience.

Up Dharma Down vocalist Armi Millare says the song talks about having the proactivity and the positive outlook to do something new. “The song is about having an idea of what’s good but only coming to terms with it upfront by actually doing something about it, such as traveling after a long time of toying with the idea of it,” she says.

“It’s about being open to new experiences,” she adds. “We saw that during our trip to Singapore and we thought that it is a lot like us as a band. Always moving forward and always innovating.”
At the helm of the music video is director John Polhem, former creative director at MTV Australia and a Gold Awardee for Music Video at the New York Film Festival. He says the creativity, energy and progressiveness of Singapore inspired the style of direction for the video.
“All the Good Things captures the soul and spirit of the Singapore we have come to love over the years,” the band shares. “We’re beyond proud and happy to have done something so special.”
Gardens by the Bay
Sweeping shots of skylines, and highlights of some of Singapore’s most interesting areas give the video a new-old feel, evoking familiar feelings with new sights.

Members of the band are shown in some key locations: Armi visits Haji Lane’s quirky shops that feature local artisans and designers, a great fit to her own eclectic style. The band also visits spots like LeVeL33 and and Mad Men Attic Bar to experience Singapore’s vibrant nightlife.
The video also shows famous attractions like Gardens by the Bay, one of Singapore’s highlighted destinations that put together nature and their signature innovation.

“Travel is one of the most inspiring experiences for any artist, and our trip to Singapore was a journey that opened our eyes to another side of it,” the band adds. “We’ve been to Singapore before but it was mostly for work and we always feel that it has something new to offer.”
