There may be more guesthouses and restaurants, but El Nido has thrived with its lovely beachfront ambiance and carefree, laidback atmosphere. El Nido should definitely be on your list of places to visit in the Philippines. If you find yourself in El Nido, here are several activities you should add to your El Nido Bucket List.

Island Hopping in El Nido Palawan

Island hopping is probably the most popular activity for El Nido. Most operators offer the same tour packages with only slight differences based on whether you want to snorkel or scuba dive or simply travel from island to island.

It’s usually 5-10 persons per boat, and lunch is always included. If you are a vegetarian, make sure to inform your tour operator for them to prepare a separate meal for you.

Sea Kayaking

Another popular recreation in El Nido is sea kayaking. There is nothing else better than cruising around the islands in total silence.

Depending on the currents, it can be a little strenuous, but don’t let that detract you. Two-person kayaks are available to rent for either a half or full day.

Depending on how far you want to go and the varying terrain levels, you may want to consider renting a car or even a 4×4 vehicle if you go deeper into the jungle. Several reputable tour operators around town can point you in the right direction.

Here, cheaper is not always better as you want to ensure the vehicle you rent has been well maintained and won’t break down on you in the middle of nowhere. Possible trips here would include a full coastal tour of the Municipality of El Nido, which would take you around the top of the island and back into town.

Another interesting tour would be Taytay for a day, or consider checking out the Makinit hot spring and Nagkalit-Kalit waterfalls.

Go Scuba Diving in El Nido

One of the top things to do in Puerto Princesa is to go on a dive underwater when you have experienced everything on the ground. The dive sites around El Nido are rich in diverse marine life, with a 50m underwater cliff and a 12m underwater tunnel.

You will see some of the marine life during your dive here, including manta rays, sea turtles, catsharks, shrimp, and seahorses, which is the best place to go on a diving course.
