During our recent Bohol Familiarization Tour which was graciously hosted by the province of Bohol, Tagbilaran City, the town of Anda Bohol and AirAsia Philippines, we were fortunate enough to stay in the South Palms Resort Panglao (check rates). Calling it one of the best resorts in this paradise is an understatement and soon you’ll find out why.

Before anything else, you’ll be glad to know that the resort offers free two-way airport transfers, a convenience you’ll definitely appreciate if you’re traveling with your family. It takes around 40 minutes to get to the resort from Tagbilaran Airport so not needing to find your own transport is one less headache.
You can definitely see how the resort values customer service and satisfaction from that alone. During our stay at the resort, I find their customer service truly exceptional. From serving the coffee during breakfast to the extra toiletries request delivered at my room, everything was done with a smile.
More Fun under the Sun
Unlike other properties in the area, the South Palms Resort Panglao (hotel info) decided to go with a horizontal resort development. You can really feel that you’re in a beach resort and not in any usual hotel.
Deluxe Pool View Room
I also tried their Spa services in the comfort of my own room but I highly recommend having a massage in one of the cabanas near the shore — it’s the very definition of relaxation. Imagine the sea breeze and the sound of the waves softly crashing into the shore as all your worries melt away!
My Deluxe Beach Front Room
I stayed in one of their De Luxe Beachfront rooms and the view of the beach from my room was truly breathtaking. It had a cozy veranda where you could just sit back and enjoy the view from. If you’re a morning person, getting to watch the sun rise from so close to the shore is a sight you’ll definitely appreciate. It’s definitely worth the price if your goal is to have the most relaxing holiday you can have in Bohol.
Sunset at South Palms Resort Panglao
If you’re not a fan of the ocean then you can choose from two great pools to swim in instead. The beachfront bar is a favorite among patrons and staying there until sunset is a must. One of the best things about the resort is the stretch of greenery that seemingly extended into infinity. With palm trees and gardens all over the resort, describing the South Palms Resort Panglao (online booking) as paradise isn’t a worn-out cliché.
Oceanica Seafood Restaurant
How about the Food?
The developer of the beach resort also owns a farm that produces fresh and organic poultry supplies, vegetables and herbs that they use in their kitchen. Oceanica Seafood Restaurant – their main alfresco restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the ocean while you enjoy their wide array of seafood dishes, ala carte fares, or all-day buffet spread.

How South Palms Resort Panglao Began
South Palms Resort Panglao almost missed its planned December 1 opening last year due to the devastating earthquake that rocked the province. When super typhoon Yolanda hit Leyte, it also affected the plans as Panglao sources most of its electricity requirements from there. Despite all this, management decided to push through so they could attract tourists to the province again and help with the recovery of Bohol.
Visit Bohol 2015
We were able to attend the launch of the Visit Bohol 2015 campaign, which was fittingly held on the same day of the 118th Birth Anniversary of Bohol’s pride, President Carlos P. Garcia. Due to the low tourism arrivals that were caused by last year’s earthquake, the government is doing what it can to revitalize the tourism industry there again. To increase tourist arrivals, Bohol and other partner organizations will push marketing and promotional campaigns.
