Visit Bohol 2015 Campaign
Together with fellow bloggers and members of the print media from Manila, we flew to Tagbilaran earlier today to join the celebration in honor of the 118th birth anniversary of President Carlos Garcia, who was also a Boholano. Another reason for such trip is that we wanted to take part in the launch of the Visit Bohol 2015 campaign as well.

Today, with their new tourism promotion, Bohol offers a bevy of new and exciting tourism products for local and foreign visitors alike. This is to give people new reasons to believe that it is indeed more fun to spend your holiday in the province in 2015. As part of their campaign, they have lined up year-round activities and events that will revive and boost the province’s travel industry. This effort is to win back the title of being the Philippines’ top island destination.
Bohol has always been renowned for its abundance in natural resources, making it the country’s top eco-cultural travel destination. Today, the province aims to continue attracting more and more holidaymakers from around the globe.

Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto shared his positive outlook of this new travel campaign, which will coincide with Tigum Bol-Anon Tibuok Kalibutan, a triennial event that celebrates the homecoming of Boholanos from all over the world.
Gov. Chatto said, “We are optimistic that these new strategies would spur growth in our tourism industry, especially as we benefit from the considerable share of tourist influx next year and beyond. With ‘Visit Bohol 2015,’ our province will be known not only as a ‘must-visit’ island destination, but also be included in the ‘must return’ list among travelers.”

The new tourism campaign “Visit Bohol 2015” is part of the Bohol Tourism Action Plan, which was a collaboration between the United States Agency for International Development through its Advancing Philippine Competitiveness Project (USAID-COMPETE), Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT), United Nations-World Tourism Organization (UN-WTO) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), as well as other industry stakeholder.
Chief of the party of USAID-COMPETE, Dr. Henry Basilio, said, “Bohol has always been considered a national tourism pillar. With this new campaign, we seek to accelerate this position further, especially amid the emergence of new destinations not only in the Philippines but also in other parts of Southeast Asia. The ‘Visit Bohol 2015’ program contains a marketing approach to promote unexplored sites to boost higher visitor flows, long length of stay, and higher spending.”

Bohol’s efforts in promoting its tourism industry is line with DOT’s Visit Philippines 2015 program, which was recently launched to achieve the agency’s aim to bring in 10 million foreign travelers and 56 million locals to explore the beauty and wonder of the country in 2016.
