Hotel Review: Coron Bancuang Mansion in Coron Palawan

Where to Stay in Coron Palawan: Coron Bancuang Mansion

After our Philippine Travel Mart 2015 Northern Palawan Media Fun Tour courtesy of PHILTOA, I stayed in Coron for two more nights. I wanted to have some time to relax, meet friends living in Coron and to start writing new posts for my blog about my previous trips. On my first night, I stayed at Coron Bancuang Mansion (hotel info).

From The Funny Lion Inn, the staff of the Coron Bancuang Mansion picked me up, assisted me during the entire check-in procedure and at the hotel, and assisted me from check-in till I reach my room.

Coron Bancuang Mansion (check rates) is easy to find since it’s located just along the highway, right in front of a gas station. Despite its roadside location, the place dominates the scenic view of the town, giving you easy access to the bay and the islands nearby.

Rooms

For my trip, I stayed in Room 302. It has one queen-sized bed and plenty of space to move around in as well. The room is airconditioned for maximum comfort in the tropical heat, and it is classically furnished with traditional Asian details and native interiors that add a touch of island charm. Each room also has 42-inch wall-mounted LED Flat Screen TV with cable access, for those who want to unwind after swimming with a good movie and some popcorn. There’s also a minibar and an electric kettle with one set of instant coffee—perfect for your morning pick-me-up.

My room had a very spacious private bathroom, complete with the usual amenities of soap and a dental kit, as well as a set of clean bath and hand towels. The shower area has a hot and cold shower, so there’s no need to endure a freezing bath in the evening.

The hotel has 10 wonderful, well-stocked deluxe rooms and an elegant penthouse suite all in all. Each room offers a blend of the rustic and contemporary, both in its decorating scheme and its aura, which will make your stay truly unforgettable.

The penthouse suite is located at the fifth floor and it has one bedroom, one living room and a veranda that provides a beautiful view of the nearby islands. The penthouse also has a refrigerator for your consumables, a kitchenette complete with utensils and electric kettle, and an indoor and outdoor lounge, making it ideal for creating a home away from home.

If you are visiting Coron with your friends and need a little more space, you can stay at their Superior Deluxe room with 3 beds, saving you the trouble of getting separate rooms. All Superior Deluxe rooms can accommodate up to 4 individuals.

Facilities

If you’re looking for a delicious meal, the hotel has in-house goodness courtesy of the Aleja Bar and Cafe at the third floor. On a business trip and need somewhere for your meeting? They have a small conference room called Michael Hall that can accommodate up to 20-30 people. Visit their roof deck if you want to see the beautiful mountains and islands surrounding the town.

This boutique hotel also has a souvenir shop, a travel and tour desk, and laundry services. Aside from free wifi, they also have an area for darts, board games, and card games guaranteed to keep you occupied if you feel like remaining indoors. If you’re worried about your valuables during your stay, they offer safety deposit boxes for all the guests. An additional thing to look forward to is opening their plunge pool this 2015.

Food

Each room in Coron Bancuang Mansion (get discounts) is inclusive of complimentary breakfast for two (if you book directly on their website).

They also have a variety of delectable lunch and dinner options on their menu. I tried their Asian pork ribs for dinner and it was absolutely superb, with just the right balance in the seasonings.

For breakfast, don’t forget to order the Danggit Lamayo to experience a taste of the local dried / marinated seafood which Coron is famous for.

Before I left the hotel, I couldn’t resist ordering a basket of chicken for lunch. I was worried it would turn out extra-greasy, but it was surprisingly delicious, and its size made it good for sharing.

They also serve an amazing cafe latte!

Overall Experience

I can’t count the number of times I have visited Coron Palawan—from small inns to opulent hotels, I’ve stayed in every kind of place. Among the places I’ve stayed in, aside from the luxury resorts, I think Coron Bancuang Mansion is one of the best options—not to mention one of the most affordable. The hotel is located at the roadside, which can make things a little bit noisy if you are lounging around the veranda. However, once you get into your room, you can’t hear the noise at all, so it’s not even a problem. Topped with the attentiveness of the staff from the start of my stay up to my check-out, I would highly recommend Coron Bancuang Mansion (book now!) for the discerning traveler. You’re guaranteed to enjoy your stay in style, just as I did!
