Where to stay in Ortigas Center: Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila Hotel Review
Staycations are becoming a lot more popular with Metro Manila residents, and with good reason—sometimes all you want is a chance to get away from your daily routine, to have someone else take care of your every need for a change, but without sacrificing the comforts of home.
Hotel Review – Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila
I was in the mood for a change of scenery, and admittedly Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center (hotel info) is not necessarily the most affordable place to stay in, but I got a great deal online and was able to stay there for a bargain. Besides, I had heard so much about its wonderful accommodations from friends that I was curious to try it out for myself.
Conveniently located in the heart of Ortigas, Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila (check rates) has 229 units of luxurious apartments stocked with all the little creature comforts you’ll need. There’s space for every kind of group, with units ranging from 41sqm to 185sqm in size. Whether you’re there for a staycation or are planning to stay for a long time, whether you’re going for a business trip or want to go on a shop and swim kind of vacation with your family, you’re bound to want for very little given where it’s situated and the attention that management has paid to stocking each unit. All Oakwood units have a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, as well as a unique in-shower steamer. It was this degree of care and preparation which made the place a winner in my book.
I was immediately struck by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff as soon as I arrived at Oakwood. I was greeted in a warm manner and made to feel right at home. In addition, the staff member assisting me immediately pulled up my reservation details and double-checked them with me, and she also informed me about the various amenities and places that I could use during my stay—that was a huge plus for me, because it made my check-in a breeze and I felt like the staff were quite accommodating.
Executive Studio with twin beds
Since Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila (discounted rates) is near Robinsons Galleria, you can go to many malls and business places in the city, as well as conveniently go to various commuting hubs, putting places such as the Shangri-La Mall, SM Megamall and the Asian Development Bank within walking distance. There’s even a nearby Ministop if you simply need to buy small items.
Rooms and Amenities
People made a huge selling point out of the coziness of the rooms, and I was not disappointed. My room had an enormous and soft bed, with plenty of pillows. The clean, modern décor did not detract from the homey feel, which I strongly attribute to the fact that they had good lighting in every room—light has a strong effect on our moods, after all.
There were also TVs in both the living room and the bedroom, with proper cable access, and I had an excellent internet connection for my use as well. I finished my projects in record time while I stayed in Oakwood, because their connection was quite fast and reliable.
My Bedroom for a night
The bathroom and bedroom amenities were also quite luxurious, and the kitchen was well-stocked with the right cookware and equipment, so prepping something amazing to eat was very easy. But the best part for me was the bathroom.
I’m very fussy about bathrooms, but Oakwood has a spacious one that comes with not only the usual hot and cold water shower features, but a wet sauna area and a bathtub—I’m obsessed with bathtubs, and nothing says luxury like a long soak in one!
Heated Indoor Pool
Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila also offers complimentary use of their well-equipped gym, plus their indoor heated pool and jacuzzi during your stay, so whether you’re a fitness freak or someone who just wants to relax by the pool, there’s something for everyone.
The Nostalgia Dining Lounge is Oakwood Premier’s signature restaurant. It is elegantly decorated in warm earth tones, and diners will enjoy a lovely view of the city, particularly if they get a window table.

The menu it has offers a wide and fine selection of various international cuisines, such as Filipino comfort food, zingy Asian mains, classic hearty gourmet dishes and even options for the health-conscious diners.
Oakroom Lounge & Bar
The Oakroom also has three private rooms that can accommodate six up to 15 persons for dining. It is open 6:00 am to 11:00 pm daily, so you can pop in anytime and expect to have a wonderful meal.
The service here is commendable—the staff are very helpful, and knowledgeable about their hotel layout and facilities. They were also very courteous, as no matter where I went, I would be greeted. When I had to call up the front desk to ask a question, I was immediately greeted politely by my name, so I knew they kept tabs on their guests for a personal touch. The housekeeping staff are particularly efficient, as the rooms were exceptionally clean.
This is possible one of the best staycations I’ve had so far, and it has plenty to do with the fact that I enjoyed great accommodations and incredibly welcoming staff. Even some other five-star hotels that I’ve stayed in don’t have service this good!

With such a pleasant stay and its excellent location, I really didn’t mind paying a bit more—it’s really the quality of the place which makes it worth it, and I would highly recommend Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila (book now) as an option to any traveler.
