Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao Resort Review
I have always been on the lookout for a great vacation spot for my whole family. Our requirements are pretty fundamental and simple: (1) It should allow us to have a peaceful and relaxing time away from home, and; (2) It should offer amenities and activities for the whole family to enjoy. After all, my folks and siblings, while aptly discerning, are relatively easy to satisfy.
Two-bedroom pool villa at night
Just mere seconds after I was led into my own private villa in Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao (resort info), I instantly knew that this place is just what my whole family has been looking for.
Tucked away in the tranquil northwest Phuket and nestled along the glittering waters of the Andaman Sea, Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao (resort reviews) offers an ultimate tropical getaway. It is just a short 15-minute drive from Phuket International Airport and is within close proximity to the picturesque Mai Khao beach.
The resort offers limousine transfers with their fleet of Mercedes Benz luxury cars and vans. It’s a service that’s sure to add convenience to a worry-free vacation.
But since I traveled from Phuket Town, I decided to navigate my way to the resort on my own. I took a Songtaew (local Thai bus) that’s stationed at Ranong Road in Phuket Town to go to Mai Khao. The travel time was approximately one hour. It would be much faster if I chose a more private mode of transportation since the songtaew, being a public ride, involved several random stops to pick up and let off passengers.
My main indicator was the Mai Khao Beach and Anantara Vacation Club Phuket (discounted rates) signage along the main road, and that’s where the songtaew driver dropped me off. The resort is just a few minutes of leisure walk away from there.
Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao (real customer reviews) welcomes its guests with an awe-inspiring, majestic structure of its reception hall that also serves as a backdrop for the koi pond that’s perfectly ornamented with an oversized pot at the center and giant waterlilies around it.

It’s an inviting first glance that lures you in and makes you want to experience more. It’s definitely a curious sight, a good one at that, and it only got better and better from there.
Going into the reception area, guests will be greeted by the friendly faces of the Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao staff. Their warm hospitality and sincere friendliness will definitely make travelers of all kinds – the easy-going, the carefree, the tired, and even the discerning ones – feel at home right away.
With the attentiveness of the receiving staff, the check-in process was efficient and hassle-free. Upon arrival, I was immediately assisted with my heavy luggage. I was also given a refreshing drink and a cold face towel, which I very much needed after a long travel from Phuket Town. This, I imagined, would also be a refreshing treat for travellers who arrived from long-haul flights.

From the frontdesk, guests will then be driven to their private villas via one of the resort-provided buggy service.

An experience in itself, the trip from the front desk to the villa is very much like a private tour of the resort that involves driving through Thai-inspired landscaped gardens and walkways.
The resort very much resembled the modern paradise that I’ve always pictured in my head – a perfect mix of nature and contemporary facilities.

Among the shared amenities that the resort offers is an infinity pool with a direct view of the picturesque Mai Khao beach. It also has a freeform tropical swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and kids’ wading pool.
The resort is also home to topnotch restaurants – Chaam, La Sala (fusion of Italian and Thai), Sea.Fire.Salt (seafood grill by the beachside), and The Treehouse (Thai-style tapas).
Other common facilities include a fitness center, a playground, and a kids club. The resort also offers activities such as cycling tours around Mai Khao area, yoga in the mornings, and spa treatments at Anantara Spa.
The villa was my own private piece of paradise within a paradise.
Designed with families, couples and groups of friends in mind, the two-bedroom private pool villa with an area of 260 sqm offers blissful seclusion and indulgent privacy.

There are two things I liked the most in my villa: (1) The main bedroom features a sliding door that opens directly into the private pool, and; (2) The spacious bathroom with a luxurious bathtub in the center.
The villa is a generous living space equipped with a fully functional kitchen, large refrigerator, cooking top and utensils, as well as clothes washing machine and dryer, recreating the convenience of home.

One would think that a solo traveler wouldn’t have that much use for such a big space but that wasn’t the case for me. It was the ultimate me-time that I was longing for after several exhausting nights of partying in, and days of touring Bangkok, Krabi, and Phi Phi.
The two nights I spent in this private villa was definitely the most relaxing nights of my 13-day Thailand trip.
WHAT I LIKED BEST
Aside from the serenity and tranquility the Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao (get discounted rates) offers, I liked how it never made me feel lonely despite my being alone, and how it made me think all the ways my whole family could enjoy its services and facilities without making me feel a deep longing for the company of my folks and siblings at home.
Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao staff
Apart from the extraordinary service and facilities that are beyond what one would expect from a four-star resort, the hospitality, and professionalism of the staff, the receptionists, buggy drivers, chefs, and resort managers, are also really commendable.
I imagined my Thailand trip to be equal parts fun and relaxed. With the nights I spent in Bangkok, Krabi and Phi Phi, I think I went overboard with the fun part. But the blissful seclusion AVC Phuket Mai Khao offered me balanced it out.
My stay at Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao is definitely among the highlights of my Thailand trip, and I would be glad to go back and experience it all again.
