Last May 20, 2014, The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has issued a statement announcing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on air services between Philippines and Myanmar. The agreement allows the designated airlines in the Philippines and Myanmar a total of 3,780 seats per week or about three flights per day for each country between Manila and points in Myanmar which has three international airports.

The Philippines and Myanmar have also concurred on unlimited traffic rights between all points in the Philippines, except Manila, and all points in Myanmar. The agreement further includes the modernization and upgrade of the Air Services Agreement between the two countries that was originally signed in 1979.

The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board stated that the Philippines’ agreement with Myanmar on air services could usher more development in our country’s trade and tourism as Myanmar has a rapidly growing economy of about 60 million people. (Source: PNA)
