Lufthansa Adds More Japan Flights for Summer 2027, Including Daily Frankfurt-Tokyo Service
The Lufthansa Group is significantly expanding its Japan network for Summer 2027, giving travelers more flight options between Europe and Japan. The group will offer up to 50 weekly flights to four Japanese destinations, including the return of Lufthansa’s Frankfurt-Nagoya service and a new daily Frankfurt-Tokyo Narita flight.

The expanded schedule responds to growing demand for travel to Japan and strengthens the Lufthansa Group’s position among European airline groups serving the Japanese market.
For travelers planning a Japan holiday, business trip, or multi-city European and Asian itinerary, the additional services create more options for reaching Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and other destinations across Japan and Europe.
Lufthansa Returns to Nagoya
One of the biggest changes to Lufthansa’s Summer 2027 schedule is the return of its direct Frankfurt-Nagoya service.
The seasonal route will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Flights are scheduled to begin on March 29, 2027.
Lufthansa flight LH736 will depart Frankfurt at 2:10 p.m. and arrive at Nagoya’s Chubu Centrair International Airport at 9:35 a.m. the following day.
The return flight, LH737, departs Nagoya at 11:30 a.m. and arrives in Frankfurt at 6:30 p.m. local time.
The Frankfurt-Nagoya route gives travelers a direct connection between one of Europe’s major aviation hubs and one of Japan’s most important economic centers.
Why Nagoya Is Worth Considering
First-time visitors to Japan often overlook Nagoya in favor of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. The city, however, offers a strong combination of history, culture, food, shopping, and modern industry.
Located in Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya is one of Japan’s major manufacturing and automotive centers. It is also closely connected to Japan’s samurai heritage and provides a convenient base for exploring central Japan.
Travelers can use Nagoya as a gateway to Kyoto and other cities across the region. The additional Lufthansa service also makes Nagoya more accessible for European travelers and passengers connecting through Frankfurt.
For Filipino travelers planning a longer Japan itinerary, Nagoya can also work well as part of a multi-city trip covering Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka.
Daily Frankfurt-Tokyo Narita Flights
Lufthansa is also increasing its Tokyo services.
Starting March 28, 2027, Lufthansa will operate a daily Frankfurt-Tokyo Narita service with flight LH710.
The flight will depart Frankfurt at 1:45 p.m. and arrive at Tokyo Narita International Airport at 9:30 a.m. the following day.
The return flight, LH711, will depart Tokyo Narita at 11:20 a.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 6:40 p.m.
The new daily service gives passengers another option for reaching the Tokyo metropolitan area, particularly travelers who prefer Narita International Airport.
Lufthansa will continue operating daily flights from Frankfurt and Munich to Tokyo Haneda, giving passengers access to both of Tokyo’s major international airports.

More Lufthansa Flights to Japan
The expansion extends beyond Lufthansa’s Frankfurt services.
SWISS will also increase its Japan capacity during Summer 2027, with up to seven weekly flights from Zurich to Tokyo Narita.
Together, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, and ITA Airways will offer up to 50 weekly flights to four destinations in Japan during the Summer 2027 schedule.
These destinations are:
- Tokyo Haneda
- Tokyo Narita
- Osaka
- Nagoya
The expanded network gives travelers more choices when planning trips between Europe and Japan.
It can also make open-jaw and multi-city itineraries easier to arrange, particularly for travelers who want to enter Japan through one city and continue their journey from another.
Lufthansa Will Operate the Boeing 787-9
Lufthansa will operate both the Frankfurt-Nagoya and Frankfurt-Tokyo Narita routes using its Boeing 787-9.
The aircraft will feature Lufthansa’s latest Allegris cabin configuration, giving passengers access to the airline’s newer long-haul premium cabin product.
The aircraft configuration includes:
- 28 Business Class seats
- 28 Premium Economy Class seats
- 231 Economy Class seats
The Allegris cabin offers different seating options across Lufthansa’s long-haul cabin classes, giving passengers more choices based on their travel needs and budget.
For long-haul travelers between Europe and Japan, Premium Economy and Business Class can be particularly relevant for those seeking added comfort on the overnight journey.
More Ways to Travel Between Europe and Japan
The Lufthansa Group’s expanded Japan schedule also strengthens its broader international network.
Frankfurt and Munich serve as major connecting hubs for travelers continuing to destinations across Europe and beyond. For example, Nagoya passengers can connect through Frankfurt to numerous European destinations and cities in South America.
The expanded Tokyo services also provide additional options for travelers visiting Japan for leisure, business, or longer multi-country trips.
Lufthansa Group Joint Venture partner ANA also offers additional booking options, giving passengers more ways to travel to Japan and connect onward to destinations across the country.
What the Summer 2027 Expansion Means for Travelers
The increased flight frequency gives travelers more flexibility when planning trips to Japan in 2027.
For leisure travelers, more flights can make it easier to choose departure dates and build longer or shorter itineraries around available schedules.
Business travelers can also benefit from additional frequencies between Europe and Japan, particularly on the Frankfurt and Tokyo routes.
Nagoya’s return to Lufthansa’s network is especially significant for travelers who want to explore central Japan without necessarily starting their trip in Tokyo.
The expanded network can also benefit travelers planning a single itinerary that combines Europe and Japan. Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich serve as major European gateways, while Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya provide access to different parts of Japan.
Flights Are Already Available for Booking
The Lufthansa Group has opened the Summer 2027 services for booking.
Travelers interested in visiting Japan during the Summer 2027 schedule can now check available flights and fares and compare routing options.
Those planning trips around peak travel periods should book early, especially if they have fixed travel dates or specific cabin preferences.
The new Frankfurt-Nagoya service is particularly worth watching for travelers interested in exploring central Japan, while the additional Frankfurt-Tokyo Narita service provides another option for reaching Tokyo.
With up to 50 weekly Lufthansa Group flights to Japan in Summer 2027, travelers will have far more options when planning a Europe-Japan trip.

Why This Matters for Japan Travelers
Japan continues to attract travelers from Europe and other international markets, and airlines are responding with additional capacity and more routing options.
For travelers, the Lufthansa Group’s Summer 2027 expansion means more ways to reach Japan through major European hubs. The return of Nagoya also opens another gateway to central Japan, while the additional Frankfurt-Narita service gives passengers greater flexibility when choosing where to arrive in the Tokyo area.
The combination of Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, ITA Airways, and ANA connections also gives travelers more possibilities for building complex itineraries across Europe and Japan.
For anyone planning a Japan trip in 2027, the expanded Lufthansa Group network is worth considering when comparing flight schedules, connections, and arrival airports.
