Culture, Youth, Society and Sustainable Tourism
Tourism is an important aspect in a society’s culture. It promotes one’s society’s identity and way of life. Culture is highly important to exist in a society. It must be kept alive. In order to keep it alive, one must act to continue to live by with the traditions, and keep the local riches and heritage at safe. To make all this possible: traditions to live and prosper, people must keep it alive and survive through time. But how can it be done? Realizing the importance of sustainable tourism and thus, passing it onto the future youth and generation, is one thing to start acting on upon to.
Tourism is important to attain inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Apart from preserving the local identity, it helps to boost the local economy. Youth can help by volunteering as tourist guide-educator to share and promote the local’s culture.
Tourism also promotes social inclusiveness, employment, and poverty reduction. With good economy, and good tourism that helps the economy, this also comes hand in hand in effect.
Of course, with having practicing sustainable tourism, with considering the environment and its effect on the climate change, together, all the people promote for the common good and the environment’s sake. Youth of the future will learn to keep this practice, and thus, provide and develop perspectives in the future for more sustainable tourism.
If sustainable tourism are indeed achieved in practice, it will result to practice of mutual understanding, and a sense of peace and local security. Cultural values will be preserved and promoted, in the midst of diversity, and in protection of the local heritage. Unity in diversity exists if all the people aim mutually the same thing. Adults of today, can only be models to the youth to be followed on. The role of the youth lies into continuing the practice and promotion of sustainable tourism in their local environments.
