Discover the Finest at the 50 Best Restaurants Awards Happening 2019 in Singapore
For the first time ever, the World’s 50 Best Restaurants will be held in Singapore. The esteemed awards will take place in an Asian country on 2019. The 2019 awards and events programs will be sponsored by S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. The annual gourmet event has already graced New York in 2016, Melbourne in 2017 and Bilbao this year. The award-giving body considers this first Asian Edition of the World’s Best 50 Restaurants as a much-awaited and prominent event.
A three-year partnership by William Reed Business Media, the company who founded the 50 Best brands has been signed together with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). This agreement means that there are more events to expect from the brand to happen in Singapore from 2019-2021.
50 Best and the Singapore Tourism Board have already worked together before when they featured the culinary world of Singapore in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants which happened in 2013 until 2015. The opening of Asia’s 50 Best Bars Awards also happened in Singapore at the beginning of the year.
Aside from being the venue of next year’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, Singapore is also hosting the 2019 and 2020 Asia’s Best Bars Awards. This is the first time that a city outside of London becomes the venue for the Bars Awards, proof that the Lion City is a valid destination for travelers who live for cocktails and other party drinks.
The Managing Director of 50 Best, Tim Brooke-Webb announced how excited they are for Singapore to be part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in Asia for the first time. They feel that their decision to choose Singapore as the venue for these awards is very timely due to the country being a ‘confident, vibrant and thriving food city’.
The choice to hold the World’s 50 best Restaurants Awards in different countries and various foodie spots stems from the brand wanting to showcase as many fresh ideas and food preparations from various chefs all over the world for the benefit of many dining public.
The events is a channel for many possibilities and activities for every type of consumer and different brands where everyone can partake in like #50BestTalks by Mieles where talks about the latest gastronomical trends are presented and where people can join discussions about food-related topics, Visitors can also attend master classes and dinners presented by many world’s top chefs. The brand and the Singapore Tourism Board are also set to embark on an interactive culinary student program. The event starts with the hosts treating the world’s greatest chefs to the Chefs’ Feat before the awarding ceremony where the flavors of Singapore are set to satisfy everyone’s craving while sharing ideas.
There’s about 1 Singapore-based restaurant out of the five restaurants included in the 2018 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. The restaurant representing the country this year is Odette at no. 28 which is a new entry. Included in the 51-100 part of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list is Brunt Ends while The World’s 50 Best Bars Awards include six that are located in Singapore according to the 2018 global bards ranking ceremony which took place in London last October 3.
Acting Chief Executive of STB, Melissa Ow said that they’re thrilled to begin to have this partnership with William Reed Business Media and hosting such important events show what the culinary world of Singapore has to offer. STB hopes that this opens new opportunities for home-grown dining and cocktail establishments in terms of global exposure and business possibilities.
