Holy Week Activities at Intramuros

The Department of Tourism and the Intramuros Administration released the following event schedule in Intramuros, Manila. This coming Holy Week, thousands of Catholic devotees are expected to flock to Intramuros to participate in Holy Week-related activities.

Via Crucis along General Luna Street
The installation of Via Crucis stations along Gen. Luna Sts., from Beaterio to Muralla Sts, for three (3) days, from Maundy Thurs. to Black Sat., or from March 29 to 31, 2018.  The Via Crucis images were supplied by the San Agustin Museum;
The featured Via Crucis images will follow the Vatican II sanctioned New Way of the Cross.
Visita Iglesia in
Seven (7) Stops will be open in Intramuros, in a simulation of the Filipino tradition known as the Visita Iglesia, on Maundy Thursday, March 29, 2018, from 8AM to 12 Midnight;
The affair will be conducted for the first time since World War II, paying homage to Intramuros’ original seven churches during the Spanish era;  
The stops are: (1) Manila Cathedral; (2) San Agustin Church; (3) San Ignacio Church site; (4) Guadalupe Shrine in Fort Santiago; (5) Knights of Columbus Fr. Willman Chapel; (6) Lyceum of the Philippines University Chapel; and (7) Mapua University Chapel.

Musical (Cenaculo inspired)
The Tanghalang Santa Ana will be staging the acclaimedMartir sa Golgota, along Gen. Luna St., with the primary performance to be held in front of the Palacio del Gobernador;
The Martir sa Golgota is primarily a musical on the passion of Christ, inspired by the traditional
Cenaculo, but with a contemporary, modern interpretation;
The musical is endorsed by the Cultural Center of the Philippines;
The Martir sa Golgota has been staged in various indoor and outdoor sites in Metro Manila since 1989, and the staging at Intramuros this year will be the 29th year run;   
The Tanghalang Santa Ana is led and directed by its President, the seasoned performer Mr. Lou
The performance will start at 7:30PM on Maundy Thursday, March 29, 2018, and will run for 1 hour and 30 mins.
