Venezuela, a beautiful country located on the north coast of South America. The world sees it as one of the poorest, most insecure countries in the world when it should be looked as one of the best destinations to explore due to its wide variety of landscapes.
With an economy mostly based on oil production, Venezuela is now facing what could probably be its worst time when it comes to government, economy and crime rate. Nonetheless, it has managed to stay on the list of several foreign people who, in spite of the risk they may be taking, want to see for themselves the wonders of this amazing country.
This may be because it has so many different options to offer.
First of all, the beaches. The warm weather of these Caribbean coasts offers a very colorful paradise, where you can swim, get a tan, scuba dive, eat and meet great and humble people who just want to share their culture.
Places like Isla de Margarita, Los Roques, and the Morrocoy National Park are some of the places that may be of interest to the people looking for the sunny part of the country. Secondly, there is the Venezuelan Andes region, made up of the states of Merida, Tachira, and Trujillo.
In the state of Merida, you can find kind of chilly weather where you can visit the zoo park Chorros de Milla and get to know several famous parks. In certain mountains such as Pico Bolivar, the nation’s highest point, it can even snow at some times of the year. Recently, trying to improve tourism in this state, the government opened a new cableway named Teleferico de Merida Mukumbarí, which allows people to see the view from above.
In the central area, tourists can enjoy the most populous part of Venezuela and enjoy the big cities. Caracas is known as one of the most cosmopolitan and modern cities in South America. Other such as Maracay, Valencia, Ciudad Bolivar, and Maracaibo are unique and rich colonial architecture cities not known by many people.
Lastly, the Amazon Rainforest. With one of the most unique ecosystems of our planet, this rainforest is well-known outside the country because of the Canaima National Park. Home of the Auyantepui Mountain where the highest waterfall in the world, the Angel Falls, drops.
The Angel Falls is one of Venezuela’s top tourist attractions; it has been characterized in movies such as Up, Dinosaur, and Point Break and is visited by many tourists, even though the trip to get to it can be a complicated affair. Amazon also has to offer other stunning places like table-top Mountains such as Roraima, the Amazon River, la Llovizna Parks, and Cachamay.
Venezuela is often associated with criminal violence, corruption, dictatorship, protest, and hyperinflation. All of this is completely fair. But the world must see what this beautiful country has to offer. It has all types of landscapes, rich architecture, great gastronomy, a mix of cultures and the best of all, helpful, loving people.
