(Banaue, Ifugao) – The beautiful Banaue, Ifugao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the newest beneficiary of the Tourism Promotion Board (TPB) thru its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign.

Held in partnership with Black Pencil Project which is celebrating its 10th year anniversary, TPB picked Cambulo Village in Ifugao as this year’s recipient.

No less than Marivic Sevilla, of Corporate Planning and Business Department of Team TPB, called the Banaue trip a “big success and that we are now finalizing our next projects aimed at bringing TPB closer to the people.”

In Ifugao, Team TPB distributed school bags with supplies to more than 300 school children from three different schools, namely, Cambulo Elementary School, Cambulo Annex, and Pula.

Each school bags contain composition notebooks, pencils, pad papers, crayons, ID lace and rulers for Daycare/Kinder to Grade 6 students, according to Sevilla.

Team TPB also served soup and juice to the children.

As a welcome treat and to show their gratitude to the Team TPB and other visitors, the people in the village performed traditional songs and dances from the elders to the children.

Another highlight of the unique three-day visit was Mural painting and stonewalling organized by Nini Andrada Founder of Climb Against Cancer and Mon Corpuz of Black Pencil Project.

One participant said the trip to Cambulo Village, which is about 2 to 3 hours travel by land from Banaue depending on the weather and road conditions, was surely worth it.

To reach the top of the mountain, you have to climb for 120 feet and then do the same going down. It was truly a beautiful and exhilarating experience.
