With gorgeous beaches, fresh seafood, and great activities, Batemans Bay is a perfect destination to kick-back, relax and enjoy the great outdoors. It is a lovely seaside town that lies in the South Coast of Australia, part of the Eurobodalla region that it is just 4 hours south of Sydney and 2 hours from Canberra by car.

Alternatively, you can fly domestically to Moruya Airport and rent a car from any of the great rentals available, and explore the region at your own pace.

Batemans Bay is nestled around the beautiful Clyde River, with surrounds of national parks and beaches. It is a popular destination for the locals at Canberra, being the closest seaside town it offers a diverse amount of Batemans Bay attractions and activities.

Surrounded by natural beauty, visitors and locals can go along snorkelling trails, cycle paths, kayaking, picnics, lookouts, and enjoy waterfront dining. It is a brilliant base for exploring, and these are just the bare minimum of what to expect in the Batemans Bay area.

What To See In Batemans Bay

Clyde River National Park

Swim, kayak, canoe, water ski, jet ski and fish alongside the beautiful views of the Clyde River National Park. Just be cautious as larger boats also use the waterway and 4WD vehicles are required on the unsealed roads.

Camping is also permitted without bookings. There are 2 campgrounds in the park to choose from. The Beach Campground is a secluded grounds that is only accessible by water, far from crowd it makes it a perfect picnic spot. Anchor your boat or unpack your canoe and soak in the beautiful surroundings.

For an easy-accessible campground head over to Red Gum camping area, that is a back-to-basics campground. Mother nature will surely keep you entertained with the many activities and wildlife present.

Or if you would just like to take a quick geeze of the overall waterway, you can go aboard the popular Merinda River Cruise and enjoy a sensational seafood lunch on this 3 hour journey.

Batemans Bay Oyster

With pure clean waters, the Clyde River makes a perfect spot to produce and farm oysters. These succulent oysters are renowned as some of the best in the world. The great thing is that they are also available directly to the general public. So skip the queues in the restaurants and grab a fresh oyster at world-class quality straight from the oyster farms.

Oysters are not the only star attraction, there are a wide array of fresh seafood at the ready. With many great local seafood joints scattered around the area, you will surely get your share. Fresh inexpensive seafood that tastes absolutely amazing, why wouldn’t you head on over.

Pick Your Own Fruit

There are a few farms in the region that are open typically during summer that let visitors pick their own fruit. With juicy blueberries, boysenberries, loganberries, tayberries, marionberries, strawberries, mulberries, raspberries, pears, and plums available, you simply pay for what you pick. Clyde River Berry Farm in Batemans Bay is an excellent location for this.

Besides all the water activities from the Clyde River, snorkelling should be a definite. Batemans Bay has superb snorkelling hotspots. Maloneys beach, Sunshine Cove, and Long Beach are worth to check out. These hotspots are simply an aquatic paradise ready to be explored.

Family Fun

There are many things to see and do in Batemans Bay, other fun-filled family activities are museums, galleries, mini-golf, and a family-run cinema.

Birdland Animal Park is also a widely popular attraction that is delightful and gives you a closer hands-on experience than most. From Koalas, to snakes, and pelicans, visitors are allowed to hand feed and pat certain creatures.
