The holy month of Ramadan recently started and a lot of Muslims worldwide are now visiting the worlds Most Popular Islamic Holy Place. It is for its uniqueness as one of the most visited and world famous Islamic holy place in the world that Mecca shines. It is a place mentioned in the Holy Koran as a seat for many holy incidents within the history of this place.

The holy land is steeped with a history that is truly exciting. For all the followers of Islam in the world, this is a site considered to be most holy and thus encourages a lot of Mecca religious tourism. During the ancient times, this holy site was considered as a hub for major trade. People residing in the city and visitors offer worship and prayers at the holy shrine.

A number of events mentioned in the Holy Koran took place in the city. The history is quite evident with the architecture of the Al-Masjid Al-Haram or Masjid Al Haram by Abraham. During the year of the Prophet’s birth, the Ethiopians attacked Mecca city as stated in the Quran.

It was Banu Querish who ruled and fortified this city and in a way got it ready for the Prophet to rejuvenate the history of this already pious place. Places where the prophet practiced religious austerities and preached of the libertarian beliefs, because of which he was banished by Banu Querish, make the place historically interesting. The place where the great prophet prayed within the city is where the Muslims honor and offer worship at the cubicle mansion or the Kaaba. A large number of Muslims pray here daily.

As far as the Muslims are concerned, Mecca is and will always remain the foremost religious site. There are places that also shine with sacramental history that dates back to the initial reign of Islamic people. People in huge numbers from all across the world started flocking to this holy place then and continue to do so in the present times as well.

This holy site was never considered to be a capital, under any of the major rulers, though this city was always the most crucial and strategically important. This particular holy place holds a lot of historical importance too. The holy land ha always been steeped in erudition as well as dedication, and thus there is little known political history.

If you look back at history of Mecca tourism, it was the governance of a royal family in Saudi that handled the annual temporary migrations. Later on, in the year 1979, when it was found by some dissidents that this particular royal Saudi family was not at all adhering to the rules of Islam in its pure form, efforts were made by them to get Saudi family overthrown and the Kaaba seized. Restoration of the kaaba took place only after terrible bloodshed that followed.

It is for the sanctity of the land that Mecca religious tourism and culture thrives. The land is extremely rich and the city is respected by Muslims the world over. The history of Mecca is as simple as it is intriguing. This holy place is considered to be the heart of the Muslim community all over the world and attracts thousands of tourists by the day. It is well located along Saudi Arabia’s western coast and from Jeddah it is just at a forty five minute drive.
