While the Philippines is known as the largest Catholic Country in Asia, a lot of filipinos are interested to know when will be the exact date of the End of Ramadan 2014 to plan for their possible weekend getaway. Also known as “Eid-al-Fitr”, Wakas ng Ramadan, Hari Raya Buka Puasa and Pagtatapos ng Pag-aayuno, it is being declared as a national non-working public holiday by the Philippine Government “to promote cultural understanding and integration” and to allow the nation “to join (its) Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr.”
Up to this date, Malacanang is still waiting for the advice from the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) as to which day the End of Ramadan 2014 holiday shall fall. The exact date of the End of Ramadan varies every year since its based on the observation of new moon by local religious authorities, so the exact day of celebration varies in different nations.
This year, Ramadan 2014 will begin on June 29 and the End of Ramadan 2014 is expected to fall on July 29, 2014.
