Experience Japanese Hospitality at Networld Hotel Spa and Casino

Networld Hotel Spa and Casino Review

“Irasshaimase!” a simultaneous greeting from the restaurant staff as we enter Kaishu Japanese Restaurant. “Are you Mr. Villareal?”said the restaurant manager. After a simple nod, we were ushered by staff to our VIP room. I didn’t bother to ask how she knew, I just assumed she saw our group taking photos even before we stepping inside the resto.

I arrived at the hotel exactly at the 1pm scheduled arrival time, from SM Mall of Asia. I was supposed to watch Transformers at IMAX courtesy of Chevrolet, but 30 minutes before the screening I learned that the invitation was only valid at IMAX SM Megamall – haha. Left with no choice, I spent an hour in a coffee shop before heading to Networld Spa and Casino (check rates), arriving right on time.

Networld Hotel Spa and Casino is an ideal spot for a staycation. It’s a world all it’s own, with close proximity to the airport, CCP Complex, Harbour Square, Malate District and SM Mall of Asia. There are options for enjoying yourself both inside and outside the premises, and because it was my duty, I sampled a bit of everything.

Royal Rooms

Networld suggested one of the Royal Rooms as they are part of their Anniversary Promo and offer excellent views of Manila Bay, PICC, and the city itself. Quite a panorama, especially from the 9th floor. Because the hotel has no swimming pool, they’ve put bathtubs into every single room in the hotel. In my Royal Room, the bathtub was huge with a shower as well.

The Networld Hotel Anniversary Promo includes a welcome drink, breakfast daily (buffet), and a set dinner menu for 2. A few extras are thrown in, like free Wifi in the room and daily bottled water and newspapers delivered to the room. It’s a great deal and if you’re interested don’t wait to take advantage of it.

Kaishu Japanese Restaurant

Located at the ground floor of Networld Hotel right next to the Casino Entrance, the Kaishu Restaurant offers an authentic Japanese dining experience. The VIP room has tatami tables and flooring, its best enjoyed if you’re with family or friends. The big bonus is the Videoke room, but of course it feels like a luxury to be in your own VIP room at a restaurant.

For starter, I had Chasumen then I also ordered Ebi Tempura and Zeitaku Bento. Carla, Christian and Darwin ordered other a la cart offerings like Seafood Ramen, Stamina Ramen, Stamina Bento, Tonkatsu Set, Gyoza and for drinks we all enjoyed Kanzake and Ramune.

Food was high quality, delicious, and delivered at a nice pace. We never felt that we were being watched over, but we also found a helpful staff member nearby when we needed something. A fine balance to strike for VIP guests!

Body Massage and Foot Spa at SM Kenko Spa

The massage and foot spa were one of the highlights. SM Kenko Spa is a full spa experience, with saunas, heated pool, and hydro massage. These are part of the deal when you book a massage, so you can relax and start to get loose before the actual massage. For many people, this is the only part of Networld that they’ll need to know about. Treatments were professional and excellent, and I felt like a new man afterwards. The Foot Spa is also a unique treat. It included a scrub and massage after a good soak. New feet for a new man.

Breakfast at Le Amoretto Cafe

After a pretty full evening, I allowed myself to sleep in until the last minute. Coming down for breakfast in Le Amoretto Cafe was a treat. The buffet has ample choices no matter what your breakfast preference, although the focus is clearly on having a Japanese experience.

Since the idea was an exotic staycation, I sampled a variety of Japanese breakfast items, hoping to come up with a favorite. Everything was good, however, and I think you’re best off trying what appeals to you. Can’t complain about a great variety and quality at every turn. If you like coffee, the good news is that it is very good.

Casino Experience

The casino part of Networld is also going to appeal to a lot of guests, especially because it’s such a nice place to be. Not all casinos are clean, comfortable, and as enjoyable as the one at Networld. With seed money courtesy of the casino (P200) I proceeded to lose a little and then win a little. Winning is certainly the fun part, but gambling in and of itself provides enough entertainment that a bit of losing doesn’t feel too bad. We definitely had a great time.

Staff and Japanese Hospitality

While getting to eat Japanese food and being taken care of at a Japanese style spa are a fun treat (especially right here in Manila), it’s the hospitality that really makes a difference. Filipino hospitality is also generous and friendly, making you feel at home. But it’s clear that the Japanese have a style all their own. It does feel good to be treated like someone special.

Would I go again? Yes, and not just if … this is more a question of when. Having the time to enjoy myself without taking a lot of time for travel is a great option. As my readers know, I enjoy an adventure, too. But sometimes, you just want to relax and be taken care of. A spa, casino, and delicious restaurants for both dinner and breakfast make it possible to stay within Networld for an entire stay without getting bored. But there’s always the SM Mall of Asia nearby if you enjoy getting out for a good shop.
