Staycation Series: The Linden Suites Ortigas Hotel Review

The Linden Suites Ortigas Hotel Review

While other traveler bloggers headed to their planned destinations, toured around and explored new off the beaten path discoveries, I decided just to stay in a hotel to rest and do some online tasks that I’ve been trying to finish for weeks now. Its a long overdue plan, It took months before I finally started my staycation series and to start off, I had a weekend staycation at The Linden Suites in Ortigas Center (Check Rates via Agoda).

Linden Suites Ortigas Hotel Review – Why The Linden Suites?

The Linden Suites in Ortigas is definitely one of the nicest hotels in the area according to friends who recommended the hotel to me. If you are like me who works online, WiFi is available in the hotel rooms and is free of charge. The hotel certainly offer some of the most wonderful suites for people who enjoy having a party at a hotel and for those who just want to spend quality time with their family. I stayed in a One Bedroom Executive Suite, but saw the interior of an Executive Three Bedroom Suite and you could certainly host a fairly large gathering with friends all staying at the hotel.

The nice thing about the rooms is that they are actually spacious. Instead of that crushed together feeling, these rooms actually feel comfortable. The furniture is minimalist and nothing feels over stuffed or over decorated. In fact, everything about the hotel is a bit simple but that doesn’t mean they are not elegant.

From a tip I saw on another review, I asked for a room on one of the higher floors because apparently the noise from San Miguel Avenue is more noticeable on lower floors. For me it was no big deal and I found the sound to be almost unnoticeable, but I was up on the 12th floor. Being in the middle of it all comes with a bit of noise, so you won’t find me complaining.

Great Location

The Linden Suites Ortigas is really conveniently located if you like shopping. The SM Mega Mall, St Francis Square, Edsa Shangri-la Mall and The Podium is within walking distance and getting to Robinson’s Galleria is also easy and fast by cab.

My Room

The One Bedroom Executive Suite is the second largest option in the one-bedroom category. It includes a living room area with a work desk, dining table, sofa, a nice ergonomic chair, plus the normal hotel amenities like mini-bar, coat hanger etc.. I was very happy with the size (78 sq m) and felt comfortable getting a bit of writing done. Mostly just notes, though, because what I really wanted to do was get out and explore.

Exploring Within the Hotel

First of all, it’s great to know that the hotel has a well-equipped gym in what they call “The Health Club”. It wasn’t too crowded when I peeked my head in but I never made it back. There is an indoor pool which I did use (perfect temperature) and a Jacuzzi, saunas, and massages available. You can also book a trainer if you want personalized advice on getting fit. There’s also a business center which I didn’t need since the room was so nicely equipped and I always travel with my laptop.

The Staff – Linden Suites Ortigas Hotel Review

I have absolutely no complaints about the staff at the Linden Suites. Everyone I spoke to, from the check-in desk staff to the room service staff, was kind, patient, and gave me a big smile. I felt welcome and I knew that if I needed anything or had any kind of problem, I could just ask and I’d be treated well. The Philippines is great for friendly service and the Linden Suites exemplifies that reputation.

Mesclun Restaurant & Café is the in-house restaurant at The Linden Suites. Mesclun means a mix or mixture and true to its promise, this restaurant offers famous local food with an international twist. The menu is prepared by The Linden Suites’ resident chef, Ms. Katrina Arce Kuhn-Alcantara.

The breakfast was good, with a nice selection of Filipino and International options served in a buffet style. For lunch I have tried some of their best tasting dishes like their House Cured Corned Beef – a soup dish with cabbage, potatoes, carrots, pommery mustard, horseradish, special broth and rice pilaf. Im not a huge fan of steak but I truly enjoyed their Tenderloin Steak with Blue Cheese – its a cut of US Angus tenderloin cooked your way served with spinach, garlic mushed potatoes with blue cheese sauce. When it comes to beverage, I recommend that you try their tamarind iced tea – its something unique and refreshing.

If you want other food options, you can always call restaurants that offers 24 hour delivery service or you may want to go at the back of the hotel where convenience stores and other restaurants are located.

Overall Experience: My Linden Suites Ortigas Hotel Review

My stay at the Linden Suites (Read Customer Reviews via Agoda) was comfortable and everything I wanted was available. Although the hotel is undergoing a major facelift, they made sure that customers comfort will always be on top of their priority. It’s a straight forward hotel with rooms that offer lots of space. My final rating is a 4.5 out of 5 stars, because I want to see the hotel again once the renovations are done.

I would stay there again and I might throw a party there sometime soon.

  1. […] Linden Suites is certainly a place that can be relied upon for a good night’s sleep, for all the necessities of a daily breather from business or a weekend camp-out in the city with the family after making the rounds of the nearby shopping malls, coffee shops, and restaurants. I wouldn’t say that it’s a destination, though, because it’s not what the Linden is all about, in my opinion. […]
