Siargao Gets International Praise as 8th Best 2020 Holiday Destination
Siargao has earned yet another commendation from an international travel publication after Condé Nast Traveler ranked the island as the eighth-best holiday destination for tourists in 2020.

Surfing Lessons in Siargao Island Cloud 9
According to CNT writers Tabitha Joyce and Lizzie Pook, the Cloud 9 surf break is one of the island’s assets because of the thrill it gives to surfers. This particular surf break has become a stuff of legend among surfers all over the world.
The publication’s write-up praised the island’s pristine beauty and surfer-friendly seascape. It even went as far as to compare Siargao to Indonesia’s Bali, which is a popular tourist destination among people in the West.

It is said that Siargao’s charm is comparable to Bali’s three decades ago when it was just starting to become popular. Pook and Joyce even predicted that Siargao might get a sizable chunk of Bali’s current tourist arrival numbers for the 2020 holidays.

They also wrote that Siargao has plenty of other activities outside surfing. One of the most popular ones is island-hopping, which enables tourists to visit nearby Naked, Daku, and Guyam islands.
Siargao bested other favorite holiday destinations like Paris, the British Virgin Islands, and Kyoto. The French capital placed ninth in the list while the British colony was at no. 16. Japan’s former capital, on the other hand, is at no. 20.
Siargao’s other honors
This is not the first time that Siargao was a subject of Condé Nast Traveler’s commendations. Two years ago, the publication called Siargao the 2018 Top Island in Asia. The luxury travel magazine also held a poll this year to determine the world’s best island. Its readers voted Siargao on top of the rankings.

Hostelworld also listed Siargao as the ninth-best backpacking destination for 2020. Siargao’s ranking was based mainly on the massive growth in Hostelworld bookings for the island in the past year.
