Future of Travel 2024
Global travel site Skyscanner has the answer to these questions and many more with the launch of their detailed report on the Future of Travel 2024.
The first section of the report, which launches today, looks at how the planning and booking of travel is set to change over the next 10 years. It introduces readers to The Digital Travel Buddy – a virtual companion which uses artificial intelligence to accurately suggest and book suitable trips for the traveller of the millennium (TOM).
The future, according to Skyscanner, will see wearable technology evolve from the recently launched Google Glass to a mobile device so small that it will fit onto a contact lens and can provide immediate translations, breaking down language barriers and the need to learn the Section one of the report also follows TOM as he engages with virtual reality.
Rather than replacing holidays, the Skyscanner report forecasts that virtual reality will offer holidaymakers the opportunity to ‘try before they buy’ allowing them to see the sights, hear the sounds, and even feel the landscape of a destination. The report is the result of in-depth research and a series of interviews with experts in their field including tech companies, travel futurologists and Skyscanner’s co-founder and CEO Gareth Williams.
