Hotel Review: Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Mactan
People I know often ask me how I am able to handle all the stress and exhaustion brought by excessive travelling, and I always tell them this: I don’t get tired traveling because the world is my home—and most of the time, I find my home in the hotels that I choose to stay in.
Our two-night stay in the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino (hotel info) in the capital city of the province was followed by a third night in the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City, which is located on the island a few kilometers off the mainland Cebu. Here’s my review of it:
About the Hotel
The Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Mactan (hotel reviews), like its counterpart in mainland Cebu, is a hotel with the façade of a grandiose red and cream palace. When our vehicle neared the hotel, the size of the building only grew. Although it isn’t as large as its counterpart in Cebu, the hotel had a very intimidating size.
With a total of over 160 guestrooms, suites, and poolside villas, a 24-hour operating casino, and six multi purpose function rooms, the hotel attracts thousands of both local and international travelers yearly. Location
The reason why we chose to move to another hotel on our last night in Cebu is because our Manila-bound flight the following morning was scheduled very, very early. The hotel’s location was simply fantastic. It was right across the street from the airport. And this is probably why it’s called Airport Hotel.
Room and Amenities
My room was exceptionally clean and spacious enough. I had plenty of breathing space to refresh myself after our activities in the previous days. My bed and pillows were comfortable and fluffy enough to my liking—the most comfortable ones I’ve had in a long time, actually.
The overall ambiance of my room was very airy and bright. Some of the amenities I enjoyed were a LED Cable Television, a minibar, and a safety deposit box. I absolutely loved the bathroom, which was so comfortable, elegant, and complete with toiletries. Oh, and did I mention it was marble?
The best part of my stay was that my room had a complimentary access to the pool and gym, although I wasn’t able to use them due to my very short stay.
Facilities
The hotel houses a casino which is open 24/7, and an outdoor pool and a gym that are both open from 7 AM to 9 PM daily. Inside the hotel, there are shops which include a shopping arcade, boutiques, and a bar. Guests can also choose to avail of the hotel’s airport shuttle service.
Internet access was available not just in my room but also in most parts of the hotel, which was indeed pretty convenient, especially for people like me, who practically live in the Internet.
For guests traveling for business purposes, the hotel’s Business Center will surely come in handy.
Food
Aside from the Lobby Lounge, the hotel has 2 restaurants: UNO and Café Fortuna.
UNO offers an all-day international buffet and opens as early as 6 AM. On the other hand, Café Fortuna, which is located in the casino, is open 24 hours as well.
We had our breakfast at UNO. We came a bit early but the staff was already well-prepared. My first meal of the day composed of the typical Filipino breakfast platter per my choice, some fresh green salad, and a bit of pastry as well.
Overall
Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino in Mactan is the best in terms of convenience and location. I had a very peaceful slumber before my flight back to Manila and that in itself is enough for me to recommend this hotel to others. I enjoyed my stay despite it being short, and I would certainly include this hotel among my options when booking a hotel for my next trip to the city.
I would also like to commend the staff for being extremely attentive to our needs. Our check-in process did not take more than five minutes because they worked so well in handling reservations. This is the kind of hotel I would love to stay in, but for now, I have to return “home” for yet another trip. Until next time, Cebu!
