Bangus Republic is definitely one of my few favorite restaurants in Greenhills. In fact, I have been dining in this restaurant since my college days and so far, I love everything on their menu card.
Sopa de Moriones
I was delighted when Arpee – a fellow food blogger invited me to an event which will be held in Bangus Republic. At first, I thought Its just another event and Bangus Republic will just be the event place but much to my surprice, I learned that it was actually an event that will be hosted by the said restaurant.
Crispy Pork Face
I finally said yes with too much excitement even though I’m not sure If I will arrive on time since I’ll be coming from Pampanga that day. Good News : I was able to arrive on time. Bad News : The traffic was so horrible.
The first dish we sampled was called Sopa de Moriones. A soup dish that is Marinduque inspired but I find it similar to Binakol however Sopa de de Moriones uses shrimps instead of chicken. This soup is also cooked with coconut water, with a little bit of sour agent, curry, yellow ginger and some chili. The taste is undeniably Pinoy but it may be too tasty for other people who does not have adventurous palate. Was it really good? A big YES! I will definitely recommend this soup dish to everyone.
I’m an avid fan of Spanish Sardines and I was so glad when they served small sized bangus in olive oil and cooked liked a Spanish sardines. I still prefer the good old Spanish sardines but the Bangus version is definitely a good and healthy alternative.
Spanish Style Bangus Sardines
Among the dishes they served, I guess their Pork Masskara is the deadliest. Its made from marinated Pork face boiled to tenderness and deep fried till its perfectly crispy. This is a perfect pulutan dish. If you guys love crispy pork skin combined with super tender lechon tasting pork that literally melts in your mouth then this dish should be on your order list.
Apart from Bangus Steak and Sopa de Moriones, One of the dishes I really loved that night is their Ginataang Sigarilyas. The thin sliced Sigarilyas was perfectly cooked with coconut milk, chili, ginger and shrimps.
Bangus Republic is also known for their Rellenong Bangus. A Bangus stuffed with milk fish meat, tomato, bell pepper and other spices.
