5 Reasons to Check Out at Vault Board Game Cafe

Vault Board Game Cafe in Cebu City

Are you a huge fan of board games? I am. Well, I’m not quite addicted to them yet but I had moments when I would stay in the office until the wee hours of the morning just to play games with my officemates.

That was before I shifted to working online, of course. Now, it’s either at home or in a cafe but the latter can be difficult especially since there are other people around who would rather want to enjoy some silence.

Enter Vault Board Game Cafe, Cebu’s first (yes, finally!) board game cafe. Why should you consider visiting this space? Here are my top reasons…

Food

Sadly, I wasn’t quite able to get a photo of our food — my friends and I had too much fun playing board games with each other! We did have our huuuge fill of fish and chips which are extremely delicious and highly recommended, by the way. You can refer to the menu below for the pricing.

Drinks

Since Vault is a cafe, it obviously serves coffee drinks both hot and cold. We brought along our toddler so we had to order a non-caffeinated beverage and thankfully they had milkshake around. I couldn’t find it in their menu, though.

Board Games

The main reason my friends and I decided to hang out at Vault was to try out their board games. They do not exactly have a huge wall of board games just like Snakes and Lattes or those board game cafes in Manila but they have quite a number of selections.

I noticed some classics such as Jenga, Monopoly and Word Factory and there are also popular ones such as Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcasonne and more. They also have a few hardcore games such as Zombicide.

We loved that they have a lot of gamemasters to help out (probably a ratio of 1:5 tables) and they were very friendly and readily available in case you need assistance. They actually just roamed around the cafe trying to overlook each table. They knew how to play most of the board games on display but weren’t quite familiar with others such as Zombicide which was extremely hard to play, by the way.

Friends

Vault Board Game Cafe does not provide friends to hang out with so make sure you bring along your barkada. Haha! Many of my friends and colleagues from my previous work love playing and exploring new board games so we did.

It’s a great place to be where you can enjoy food and games and not have to worry so much about making too much noise. No wait, it was actually the first time in a long time that I did not complain about a place being too noisy which means that I am not that old (or I was probably just enjoying myself too much).

Ambiance

Vault has an industrial finish that I love and, with every table playing a different game, you will surely get hooked yourself whether you are a casual gamer or a hardcore one.

Should you decide to try something new when you are in Cebu, I highly suggest dropping by Vault Board Game Cafe in the Greenery in Mabolo. You can just enjoy their food and drinks or play some games. I’m pretty sure there are some that allow just one player or you can strike up a conversation with other customers and join them, if you are bold enough, that is.
