In an aim to provide a sense of thrill and anticipation to its younger guests while onboard, Etihad Airways has recently introduced its so-called “Etihad Explorers.” This airline’s new brand is aimed for children, featuring exhilarating activity packs, meal items along with a Flying Nanny Kit.
These new exciting kits were officially introduced at a colorful children’s tea party held at the airline’s Innovation Training Academy in Abu Dhabi.
To make certain that children travelers are entertained during their journey to and from Abu Dhabi, below are the packs that the airline is offering:
- New collectible character bag – the bag, which is offered to guests who are three to eight year olds, comes packed with an activity booklet, card games, crayons plus a color-in mask. This is given during inbound flights to Abu Dhabi.
- Unique Suitcase Board Game – Meantime, flights from Abu Dhabi will offer this suitcase that enables parents along with their children to play together. This includes color-in postcards, foam lion character, a handy waterproof travel wallet and crayons.
- Pack For 13 year olds – There’s also an offering to more grown up children onboard. These 13 year-old guests will surely be delighted with a pack featuring mazes, Sudoku, join-the-dot games plus lined notes. On top of that, the pack is also fitted with Abu Dhabi themed pencil case, a dual-function bookmark and ruler, pencil along with a notepad.
- Offering For Tech Savvy Kids – Young guests can take pleasure in an array of television programs, movies, child-friendly albums, games and CDS – thanks to the airline’s ‘Just 4 Kids’ section on its E-BOX inflight entertainment system.
New Flying Nanny Kit
It is also interesting to note that every aircraft has its Flying Nanny. These nannies make sure that the kids are more entertained. First launched back in September 2013, Etihad Airways’ flying nannies were trained by Norland College in the United Kingdom.
Among the fun items used by the nannies to offer greater interaction range from Origami, pom-poms, games, flight certificates, tools for face-painting and magic tricks plus a “Flying Nanny stamp of approval.” The latter is used in rewarding kids during various activities.
“We understand that flying as a family can often prove daunting for parents and children alike, especially when travelling long-haul,” said the Vice President for Guest Experience of Etihad Airways, Calum Laming. “That’s why we’re continually looking for new ways to develop family-friendly products, like the new children’s activity packs, so everyone can be fully entertained from the moment they board.”
He went on to say that these kits will help in giving a really superb, unforgettable flight not only for these young guests but for their parents as well.
It is likewise worth mentioning that these kits were created by a UK-based firm specializing in making kids activity packs for different brands across the globe, named Milk Jnr’s & Kidworks. This is in collaboration with the Flying Nannies and product development team of the airline.
The agency also managed to re-illustrate the existing characters of the airline. These include Kundai the Lion, Jamool the Camel, Zoe the Bee plus Boo the Panda.
That’s not all Etihad Airways is offering to its customers. This coming December, it will also launch its new Children’s menu offering healthy choices for its young guests.
From its Abu Dhabi base, Etihad Airways flies to, or has announced plans to serve, 117 passenger and cargo destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. The airline has a fleet of 122 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, with 204 aircraft on firm order, including 71 Boeing 787s, 25 Boeing 777Xs, 62 Airbus A350s and 10 Airbus A380s.
