Best Rated Cebu Hotels
So, you’re heading to Cebu and you want to know where to stay. You’ve looked at all the ratings websites and you just can’t seem to make up your mind. Let me tell you, I can sympathize. Whenever I go to Cebu, I am torn about where to stay. The reason is that there are so many amazing options but here are my top five choices for Cebu for your future reference.
Abaca Boutique Resort is a litttle off the beaten path. It sits in Lapu Lapu City and has gorgeous surroundings, great rooms and that high level of service that somehow always provides what you need without your ever seeming to need to ask for it. I recommend this one for any sort of romantic getaway. Here’s an insider tip for you – all of the rooms here are incredibly nice – but the waterfront penthouse- if you have the money to spend, pick that one!
Radisson Blu Cebu, as you guys know, is one of my favorite hotels on Cebu. When you arrive, ask for a tour – they won’t mind, in fact, they are happy to do it. What you’ll find is that it is a secure hotel with an attentive staff in a wonderful location. Big bathtubs, great showers, and don’t forget the amazing breakfast and food food at Feria Restaurant. Plus, located right near the SM Mall for easy convenience and the rooms are up to anyone’s standards.
Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa is another great get away from the hustle and bustle destination. My first suggestion – ask to be put in the Ocean Wing. Like all great hotels, the staff at the Shangra-La are amazing but the bonus here is the incredible beaches of Mactan. Cebu isn’t really known for it’s beaches but at Mactan you can snorkel, swim, and enjoy everything about the wonderful sea view. The food is great but a bit on the expensive side. The downside is that you are pretty far from other options and the areas around the resort aren’t necessarily tourist friendly – but inside the resort you will be safe and secure.
The Blue Orchid Resort sits a fair distance from Cebu City but once you are there you will be able to dive, enjoy the beaches, snorkel, or just lounge by the pool with great service and no hassles. In particular the private balcony of the Honeymoon Suite is ideal for those ‘sunset’ moments. One of the great things about the Blue Orchid is the fact that guests really mix it up while eating by the pool or enjoying the great breakfasts. And for the dinners – well, each day the menu is set by you when the girls ask what you would like before going to the market. It’s about a two and a half hour drive from the airport, but for enjoying some Philippine solitude, it is perfect.
Finally, for those looking for a great budget option I recommend the Alpa City Suites. A bit out of the city center with no pool, this is not a luxury hotel, but it is a great way to be in Cebu City without having to pay an arm and leg. Kitchenettes in the rooms make self catering a money saving breeze and the rooms are comfortable, safe, and clean. And as a bonus, the breakfast is both free and delicious.
