The Tourism Ministry of Indonesia (official site) has come out with a slogan that sums up everything you may experience while you are visiting the island nation. Wonderful Indonesia! With the tourism industry expected to be getting a big boost in the next few years, many nations around the world are pumping money and creative efforts into increasing their tourism revenues. Few countries though have as much to offer tourists as Indonesia though.

It really is the perfect slogan for this incredible country. What better word to describe the jungles of Borneo, the Batak people of Lake Toba, the hustling and exotic nightlife in Jakarta, and the beautiful beaches of Bali, Sarawak, and Palembang. Wonderful. Wonderful Indonesia.

While Indonesia has had it’s share of problems in the past twenty years, that hasn’t put a damper on the spirits of the Indonesian people. Indonesia is filled with wonders that will touch your soul. From the excitement and heart-pounding action of a Balinese cockfight to the sleepy serenade of village men as they drink coconut wine and sing ancestral songs with the sun going down on a land of lush green landscape and incredibly peaceful people. Wonderful.

As you drink the rich coffee or eat the delicious fish your taste buds and your soul will certainly cry out the words wonderful. Wonderful Indonesia. Wonderful people, wonderful landscapes, wonderful music, wonderful crafts. Javanese puppet shows and the Hindu dances of the Balinese are just two of the many exotic wonders that have soothed the weary souls of visitors and turned Indonesia into the closest thing to paradise on Earth.

The new slogan will be used for the next two years. Indonesia will officially launch “Wonderful Indonesia” on January 17 and 18 at the ASEAN Tourism Ministers Forum. For those who have visited, it’s no wonder that it will be called “Wonderful Indonesia.”
