I know its my childhood fantasy but things are never too late and now that I got an invite from a popular tourist attraction in Asia to experience the world class theme park, I can say thats its a dream come true. Sure, I know there are plenty of places to see in the world, but right now the Magic Kingdom is at the top of my list. Now, when I say the Magic Kingdom, maybe you aren’t sure where I’m talking about and I just have to ask you, where in the world have you been hiding? Obviously, I’m talking about Hong Kong Disneyland!
Disneyland in Hong Kong
Since 2005 this place has been creeping up my visit wish list and right now it’s made it right to the top. The theme park which is situated on Lantau Island in Penny’s Bay is not just another Disneyland. This is a uniquely Chinese theme park and incorporates aspects of Chinese culture, Chinese heritage, and Chinese style into just about every aspect of the park. Think about it, Chinese Disneyland. Pure, unadulterated awesomeness.
Not only is the park built to showcase the wonderful world of Disney, but it’s also built with Feng Shui so even when you visit Main Street, USA, it still feels, in a word, better than the USA because using the ancient art of placement, things are situated for maximum good energy.
And if you love crowds, well, it gets over 5 million visits a year so you won’t be there all by yourself. In fact the park is working on three new themed areas and expects to nearly double attendance in the next couple of years. That’s one big reason I want to go there now. Another reason is that this is the 5th year anniversary and all year they are celebrating with the Celebration in the Air event which for a fireworks aficionado like me, means I gotta go there!
Of course, if I will be there this weekend with my friend Paula to experience Hong Kong Disneland and to have a short tour of Hong Kong, I can visit Toy Story Land, one of the new expansions. With massive grass (bamboo actually) and larger than life toys, this promises to be the greatest new addition to any Disney park since Space Mountain debuted.
