Khao Yai National Park was established in 1962 and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is the third-largest park in Thailand, occupies the eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, and extends into Prachinburi, Saraburi, and Nakhon Nayok.

Visitors can hike several peaks or take the hiking trails around the park. The hiking trails are over 50 kilometers long and cross over waterfalls and grasslands. There are six hiking trails that hikers of all levels can take, from the 3.3 kilometers trail that leads to the Nong Pak Chi observation, where elephants are taken care of, to the 8 kilometers hike to the Haew Suwat waterfall for the experienced hikers.

Visitors can also hike to the Khao Laem with its fantastic view of the mountains. Those looking for something more relaxing can opt for wildlife watching and observing the more than 70 different species of mammal in the park.

Visitors who want an authentic wildlife experience can try the night safari. Jump into the park ranger’s truck, see the nocturnal animals and plunge into the dark jungle. Night safaris usually take an hour to complete.
