1. The Patapsco State Park

Patapsco State Park is the first state park in the State of Maryland. It covers more than 14,000 acres of the most beautiful land in the mid-Atlantic region of the US. The terrain includes rivers, streams, woods, and open fields, among many other landscapes.

You might also find some historic buildings such as mill towns. Commonly used trails in this area include Buzzards Rock Trail and Grist Mill Trail. The former is a steep trail that goes for 2.1 miles. It rises from the river valley, and it will give you a beautiful view of the gorge on the upper side of the river. The latter follows the river, and people in wheelchairs can use it. You will see the swinging bridge in this Park and the Lost Lake if you choose this trail.

This park is so good for recreational activities that it host an annual Independence Day celebration. You should also note that the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra usually performs at this Fourth of July event.

You may ask yourself what makes Oregon Ridge Park so appealing. Well, it has trails, nature centers, and a lodge. It also has fun activities such as cross-country skiing and sledding, in addition to picnic and recreational areas.

However, it is specifically appealing for hikers because it has more than five miles of trails. Moreover, it is open from sunrise to sunset, and there is no admission fee for utilizing its trails. That is awesome, is it not?

3. The Gunpowder Falls Park

This park has an explosive name, but it is quite peaceful and serene. The name stems from the fact that one of the trails in it, the Lefty Kreh Trail, was formerly the Gunpowder South Trail. This trail runs for more than 5.3 miles, and it gives you some of the most beautiful views of Gunpowder River.

Another commonly used trail in this Park is the Panther Branch Trail. It runs for 4.2 miles, including uphill and downhill climbs, making it suitable for experienced hikers. This park covers two counties, i.e., Baltimore and Harford. More specifically, it covers over 18,000 acres.

4. North Point Park and Soldiers Delight

You can also hike in North Point Park or Soldiers Delight Environmental Area, among other places. North Point has a beach where you can sit and relax with your friends while enjoying scenic views.

This park opens at eight o’clock in the morning, and it closes at sunset. It covers 1,310 acres, and it has a few trails that you should try. Soldiers Delight is also an excellent location for hiking in Baltimore. Did you know that it has 39 endangered, threatened, or rare species? You might spot one of these species along the seven miles of trails this area offers you.

As you can now tell, hiking in Baltimore is a pleasant experience. It exposes you to some of the most beautiful scenes in the mid-Atlantic. It also allows you to bond with your family members, friends, or colleagues in a serene and calm atmosphere.
